3 Tips On Product Detail Pages To Help You Increase Your Sales On Amazon

The following are some useful tips for product pages to help you increase your Amazon sales.

1. Products Are Organized By Amazon By Product Identifier

Amazon organizes its product pages and products by product identifier. Every product listed on Amazon has its very own product page. All of the different sellers selling that product use the same page. All new products are identified by Amazon as either matching a product page that already exists or one needing a new page. This is all based on the product identifier.

Every product page will have the same product being sold by different sellers based on what the product identifier is. This is information that sellers use from their product inventory file. It comes in the form of an ISBN, UPS, EAN, etc. These product identifiers either come from the manufacturer of the product or an Amazon Product Identifier can be assigned to a product.

Amazon has a guide that will show you how to identify these product identifiers if you aren't sure how to find them.

Products Pages Are Organized By Amazon By Product Identifier

A product's product identifier (used by Amazon for compiling products on its marketplace) shouldn't be confused with the unique identification number that Amazon uses for products (ASIN or Amazon Standard Identification Number).

For example a yellow umbrella being sold on Amazon will have a certain UPC, which is a unique product identifier. It could be sold by more than one merchant but it will be the same UPC. A separate number is used by Amazon (ASIN) for categorizing the product on its website.

Each of the sellers- whether they are third party sellers or the manufacturer- will submit the same UPC to Amazon. Those UPCs will be grouped together by Amazon and it will note that there are multiple sellers that are selling the same product. Those products will all be condensed to the same yellow umbrella product page. The product page will have a UPC and also an ASIN, which are two different things.

Amazon UPC vs. ASIN

Amazon's product pages are organized based on the ASIN. This is reflected in each product page's URL.

Tips For Amazon Sellers:

- Make sure every product you sell is clearly labeled so that it matches the correct product page.

- Remember that the Amazon marketplace is huge. Your products will most likely not have their own product pages. Instead they will matched up with existing ASIN pages.

- Provide Amazon with as much product information as possible.

- Learn more about competing on the Amazon buy box.
