I've Got To Change My SEO Strategy

My current website portfolio
I've built somewhere between 100-200 websites. I have sold some of them and have let others expire, but I still have 50+ active minisites.
I have also built one larger site consisting of 65 posts of 1,000 words each. The reason that I built the larger site is for 2 reasons - 1) I realized the error in my ways concerning SEO (more on that to come), and 2) Xfactor released his Authority site ebook about the same time I was re-considering my IM strategy.
These two reasons came together at the perfect time, and so I started focusing on building authority sites instead of minisites.
How is my first authority site doing?
Well, I finished it up about mid-February, and so far in April, it has been my biggest earner. It has about 65 posts and 2,000+ backlinks (mostly gathered through fiverr). However, this website is in a very competitive industry, so it isn't getting a lot of traffic.
So I started another authority site in a much less competitive niche, but in a niche that still has pretty good Adsense earnings (at least $1 CPC according to Adwords). I built that website to 22 posts of 1,000 words each, and I was adding a new post everyday. This website was doing so awesome!
I had gotten it up to about 35 - 40 visitors a day and it was earning anywhere from $2-$5 each day. When you average $7, another $2-$5 is awesome.
Because the website was doing so well, I decided to build some backlinks to this website. I went out on fiverr and hired someone to do some forum posts.
One Wednesday, I was having an awesome day with this website - by 3PM, I had already earned $2.50 and had 35 visitors. I expected that by that evening I would easily break my high in visitors and maybe even earnings.
But then traffic stopped - completely.
Apparently, I did something Google didn't like, and my website currently shows nowhere in the rankings for any keywords, much less the keywords that were making me money.
I am still indexed, and I get a visitor or two every once in a while, but my traffic went to basically 0.
So I really began to reconsider my SEO strategies.
I thought about building a new website, but I just didn't have energy to do so. I have built so many websites and am still averaging less than $10 a day. I knew I had to learn something that I kept putting off - search engine optimization.
I believe I have enough content to make close to $100 a day already - I just don't have enough visitors. What I need is visitors, and how I want to get them is through organic search engine traffic.
By taking a step back and realizing that I've continued to ignore the most vital part of organic traffic building, I realized that creating a new website would just be a waste of time. Sure, I could build 500 minisites and come close to making $100 a day, but that just seems like the really hard way to go about it.
So, this is basically my journey of building backlinks and seeing my websites rise in the rankings. It is going to take consistent and persistent work, but I truly believe that if I work hard and smart, I will achieve my $100 a day.
More to come on my specific SEO strategies in the next post.
