Not About the List, It's About the People

So I've been making money online since 2009 (about Fall)..first as a freelance writer and AdSense publisher, now as an author and affiliate marketer.
This whole time, I keep hearing pithy statements about how the 'list' is where it's at...but it's not, really.
I've been making money really apart from a list.
But what I've found on this second book launch (CJ Tactics), is that it's not about the list anyway: it's about the people.
The network.
It's not "what you know, it's who you know..." and further than that: it's how you treat those people.
I've had the good fortune to make friends online (and a few not-so-friends)...and every time I'm amazed when I do something like launch a WSO or so much as be quiet for a few days...
Funny thing is that it matters if you treat people kindly.
It matters if you do good business, and don't try to screw people out of their fair share (ya think?)...
It matters how you steer the ship.
At the end of the day, those who succeed most are those with the biggest network of people: people who care, people who want to sell for you or with you, people who have backs you can scratch after they scratch yours...
Some people hate that.
They think it's a matter of a "good ol' boys" network...and if you want to be like that, then sure: it's a good ol' boys (and girls) network...
But it's another way of saying:
People matter.
They drive business. They're not marks, they're people.
They're not lackeys, they're partners.
They're not machines, they're living humans, with the dignity to treat you the way they've been treated...
So call it what you will, but after 3 years of doing nothing but SEO, I'm learning about how much incredible power and potential there is in a simple friendship, or simply a network.
What's better than building links?
Building relationships and keeping them. Surprised?
Yeah. Me neither. But it works.
