Sometimes we learn something new and do not even realise it. It might be something small that could affect our future dramatically and we didn't notice. Or it may be something high that we cannot help but see it.

This blog is basically a journal of lessons I have learnt.

Joomla! 1.5 picking up speed

Posted 08-12-2008 at 12:12 PM by jensrsa

I was one of those who kept developing most of my sites in Joomla! 1.0, mainly because of the incompatibility of many of the extentions with Joomla! 1.5, especialy the main ones I use, SOBI2 and Virtuemart.

Many extention developers maintained a "wait and see" approach, waiting for more stability in the new version. So, even the "smaller" components and modules weren't always available for Joomla! 1.5, even in Legacy mode.

But the tide seems to have turned.

Looking at the new extentions being listed at Joomla! Extensions Directory , most of them are now available in Joomla! 1.5 Native and many are not even being designed for the older version.

While there are still new templates coming through for Joomla! 1.0.x at Joomla24 - More Than 1500 Free Joomla CMS Templates, more and more of the new templates are for the 1.5 version.

Joomla! 1.5 has finally started to get acceptance not only from us users but also from the developer and programmers.

Where it's content has been fairly static up to now I've started using my Joomla 1.5 CMS Demo Web Sites / Templates site as a blog style site to test and review various aspects of Joomla! 1.5 (I might still turn it into a full on blog, I'll see).

With a much simpler installation process and the growing support from developers it makes sense to move to Joomla! 1.5, if you haven't done so already.
