Tackling Overwhelm and Distraction Once and for All
Posted 01-13-2012 at 10:03 PM by Jeremy Barker
This was a post that I had a while back. I felt the need to rehash it since overwhelm and distractions are at every turn in this new age economy. Especially when we talk about "online and the internet."
Enjoy!

What is "Overwhelm?"
Dictionary.com states that overwhelm is, "to overcome completely in mind or feeling."
That is about right. Think about it! When you are overwhelmed you feel completely overcome and overrun, not able to complete the task or tasks at hand.
I know I am not alone here but there are times when I have been and felt so overwhelmed that I actually got nothing done when I had so much to do. Overwhelm can completely shut you down and everything you are trying to do if you are not careful. There are some ways to battle "overwhelm." A couple are:
1) Scheduling. Schedule your day from the time you get up to the time you lay your head down at night. Create start and stop times for your activities throughout the day and stick to those times. This helps to keep your mind focused on one topic at a time thus helping you get this task complete.
2) People try to multitask. Forget it! Do you really think you can get so much done at the same time! I don't think so....
3) Set standards for yourself and do not fall below these standards.
I want you to ask yourself a question, "Would I rather be overwhelmed or underwhelmed?" My mentor, Andrew Cass, has always said, "To be underwhelmed is to be underpaid." I like that!
I am not making a dime off of the following product but I have a copy in my vehicle as I type this post. I would like you to check out "Productivity Triggers" by Andrew Cass. This audio program will teach you some very informative points on how to deal with overwhelm as well as the myth of time management.
