List Building Twist - Building a List of Paying Customers

I received something in my email this morning that intrigued me. It wasn't quite what I expected when I visited the site, but I'll share with you how it can be used to build a list of paying customers.
Brad Smith and David Canham are running a firesale, but they're administering it similar to a JV giveaway. Contributors send a product that they have rights to, but that cannot be given away. The idea is that the firesale doesn't contain the same products that keep showing up in JV giveaways.
Here's the deal. The purchasers don't have to opt-in to get your product. You must include a direct link to a download page.
So, how do you get their email address?
You include a subscription form to get a free bonus on the download page for your contributed product. Or you include a subscription form to receive updates or support for the product.
Do you have something with a part 1 and a part 2? You could require them to register to receive part 2.
These people are paying to get the products. These will be much higher quality leads than you will get from JV giveaways. These people are actually spending money.
The timing is great for me on this one. I'm using it to build a list for the giveaway and firesale I'm running in November (oops, did I just let that slip?)
