Social ranking factors are increasing.

I haven't been paying attention to backlink for a while now. Heck, I think they are the past. I'm not totally saying social is the only future, but it's an easier future if they can figure out a way to make it work properly with rankings.

It's amazing how quickly it's jumped into the industry and is changing everything overnight.

I posted a status update earlier on one of my fan pages and received almost 800 unique visitors within just 2 hours. That's got to say something. (not directly associated with ranking, but now people can see it and link to it organically)
