Observations of an Internet Marketing Newbie

Except for a couple of misguided attempts at network marketing early in life, I haven't really tried to tackle anything in the way of my own business. When I was around 20 years old, I almost got sucked into one very famous company only to realize that it was the same old system that had been around for years. My mom and dad tried it as did of their friends, only to find out that unless they were willing to pester their friends and family incessantly and adopt an almost cult-like attitude toward promoting it, they would enjoy little success. Then I tried a newer wellness company that makes legitimate high quality products. I signed up, bought a crapload of product for personal use and a little to sell, and promptly began pushing my wares and business plan on everyone I could get an audience with, including my friends and family... The theme seemed to always be, "promote to your friends and family."
I felt like I was being encouraged to take advantage of the fact that these people weren't allowed by conscience to say, "no," to me. Sure there were others who had made legitimate fortunes at these businesses, but I really have to wonder what kind of people they were. Raised by wolves possibly? Used car salesmen? No offense to used car salesmen, but you have to admit, it's not the most respectable group of people. I did it for about two-and-a-half years and finally had to get out... geesh! I didn't have enough tweed-plaid sports coats and hair grease to really be a great used car salesmen so instead, I became a teacher... As it turns out, I have just the right amount of hair grease to teach 6th grade English :)
Fortunately, I have a great family and tend to make friends with very forgiving people so my relationships were no worse for wear. However, not being much of a salesman to begin with, the whole idea of pressuring anyone, especially people I cared about, wasn't very appealing to me.
Then, I realized that Al Gore had done something that had actually made network marketing a viable way to build a business and generate income. He invented the Internet! (For those of you who are just getting to know me, you'll have to bear with me. These are the kinds of things I find funny so if you're a fan of Al Gore, please don't be offended but be advised that my humor knows no bounds and is in no way politically correct.) Never before have we had more access to as many people (literally millions) for as cheaply as we do now (I guess you can call FREE cheap...). Furthermore, I'm not sure if, even in the face of the worst economic downturn in history, there have been more individuals enjoying legitimate, sustainable six-figure incomes as there are in the world now.
Now, I'm still in the formative stages of developing this buisness, and I'm pretty sure the way to go is to focus like a laser beam on one program, at least for now. The one I've chosen is Global Domains International (GDI), which is a company that has exclusive rights to the ".ws" or "web site" domain extensions, and there aren't any maintenence fees involved with sites bearing that extension. In addition to having pretty much every possible domain name possible available, GDI uses network marketing to spread the word about their product.
Now to be fair, all of the links I provide will take you to landing pages that will direct to you to sign up in my downline so anything you do to promote your business will help me. GDI is relatively inexpensive to sign up for at only $10/month for their basic domain and web hosting service following a 7 day free trial, but like any web hosting company, they offer several upgrades for prices that are extremely competitive. Its low cost is one of the reasons I chose GDI since like you, I'm not made of money. Also, the price point makes the product accessible to just about anyone you might talk to about the hosting service or business opportunity.
If you sign up under me, I promise to do my best to answer any questions you come up with either directly or by asking one of my mentors. At the end of the day, you don't know me, and I don't know you. I'm not going to try to bully you into making a decision you aren't comfortable with because if you're excited about an opportunity, you'll work hard at it to make money for us.
This blog is designed to educate and facilitate, but I am a human being and as you've already read in the title of this post, I am new to this. Not only do I want to learn and help you learn, but I want this to be a community of people who feel they can trust the information that is being given and come here to gain encouragement.
I will never make this a secret forum. Anyone who finds this blog will be able to read the posts as well as the comments that are left. However, if you would like to post a comment, you will have to become a follower, and your comment will not be published until I have read and approved it.
Finally, as you read earlier, the reason I decided to get back into network marketing is because of the tremendously powerful tool the internet has become for making money online. I'll never ask you to, "make a list of people in your warm market." I HATE THAT!!! My desire is to make a list of NEW friends that are interested in using the internet in the same way that I am.
Thanks for reading,
