Your mood, happiness, quality of life, success, sense of fulfilment, friendships, relationships and health are all dictated by your mindset, which is directly influenced by your physiology. Your physiology is a choice; you decide whether you’re going to be energetic and vivacious, or lethargic, slow and sluggish. It’s rarely a conscious decision, but it’s a decision none-the-less, so once you become conscious of how you respecting or disrespecting your physiology, you can start to dramatically improve your life and give it a super kick-start!
Your physiology is, without a doubt, the most powerful tool you have for creating a state change, instantly. When you consciously understand how the quality of the movements of your body, the way you express yourself facially, and the tone and energy in your voice can alone dictate how full and exciting your experience of life is going to be, you can start training yourself to control it to maximum effect. The key things to focus on changing are:
- Posture
- Breathing patterns
- Muscle tension
- Tone and energy of voice
- Facial expression
- Smiling
When you can choose to be energetic, excited, dynamic, cheerful, despite your present and surround circumstances and relationships, you make any and every situation better and really start to enjoy your life and take control of your health and happiness. This is applicable whether you just want more energy, you want more success, you’re in a bad relationship and you don’t know what to do/ how to get out, or you want to juice your current relationship up. Whether you’re in a poor financial situation and you want more abundance, or you’re in poor health currently. You can turn all these situations, and more, in your favour when you decide to intensify your physiology.
Anthony Robbins says, “If you would be powerful, pretend to be powerful”. All it requires is your will. It’s one of the most challenging things to create a good mood, inner peace and high energy when you’re seething or fretting over something, but again, this is a test of your will and strength of character. Anger, jealously and worry are states of the ego, calm, peace, love and happiness are all states your you inner being naturally, but they must be consistently practiced and worked on everyday. How strong is your will?!
It’s so ridiculous to think that you need pills and prescriptions for so many things, which in truth can all be fixed by understanding the principle of your body and mind. Changing your state with a pill is a mask; you’re not really changing your state, you’re putting unnatural chemicals in your body, creating a manufactured feeling, which is superficial and not real because once the effects of the drug have worn off you need to pop another or you revert back to depressed-ville again. So this pill then becomes a crux to keep you in this artificial state. When you analyse that, see how truly ridiculous it is. You create your own happiness! If you’re depressed, you put yourself there by telling yourself certain things about a certain situation, and your physiology followed. The same thing applies for all manufactured drugs. The pharmaceutical industry has no personal incentive for actually curing our ailments and putting us back to full health; they’d be out of business! And they make too many billion dollars every year to risk that. It’s in their interest to keep us reliant on as many drugs as possible. How ever did they manage to get by these past few hundred thousand years without the pharmaceutical industry?!
Positive states heal every ailment you could get in body or mind. Norman Cousins wrote in his book Anatomy of an illness, he describes how he made a miraculous recovery from a long, drawn out illness, literally by changing his state and laughing himself healthy. Laughter is an enormously powerful tool that he used to consciously jump start his will to regain his health, live on and become successful. What did he do? He spent all day everyday watching comedies so he could laugh. This is because laughter shifted his physiology, which made his nervous system respond accordingly. So many cases of cancer and other physical and psychological illnesses have been eliminated, often in miraculous time, because the owner of the body with the illness took control of his physiology, changed his state and changed his nervous system.
One fantastic way to control your physiology on a daily basis is to do some form of exercise daily. Anything that relates to your body. Some options include:
- running
- Jogging
- Walking
- Biking
- Weights
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Swimming
- Martial arts
- Dancing
- Taking up a sport
Every person has some form of exercise, which will relate to their own fitness level, personality, lifestyle and schedule. The important thing is that you just do it, for at least 30 minutes a day. You may have been told that just 10-15 minutes of exercise is good enough, but the facts are, if you want a healthy, vibrant body and mind, it’s not nearly good enough. 10-15 minutes is getting your heart rate going, if you stop there you’re stopping at the warm up! You have to choose to carve time out of your schedule and make the decision that your health and well being is worth that commitment; half an hour is such a small amount of time, you can get up half an hour early, stay up half an hour later, cut out half an hour of television. It can be done if you care enough about yourself. It feels so good to start your day successfully with an energising work out, you start your day refreshed and pumped up, you’ve kick started your metabolism and you will burn fat better throughout the day.
For the rest of the day is being conscious of how you hold yourself and how you move.
- posture. Stand up tall, straight back with shoulders back, chest out, chin up, eyes focused and up. Walk with a purpose and confidence
- Breathing pattern. Deep breaths to fill your lungs, really deep breathing because it gets maximum oxygen into your lungs, into your blood stream, fattening and loosening up your red blood cells, energising your body, getting oxygen all the way up into your brain, helping you to think clearly.
- Muscle tension. Relaxed, loose shoulders and facial muscles. When you hold your body tight you literally lock in tension and stress, which shows up in your face. It’s like a poison in your body, and almost guarantees a head ache! Stretching like yoga or pilates will iron out all the tension you are holding at the end of the day, and it will increase your flexibility and oil your joints. Keeping you supple and loose as long as you practice them! Forget fish oils, you need to stretch!
- Tone of voice. If you consciously control the tone of your voice and keep it upbeat, relaxed, happy and warm, then you will naturally feel how you sound. Sound like you can’t be bothered, tired, sleepy, grumpy or intolerant then you will feel like this.
- Facial expression. When you relax the muscles in your face you let all the stress and tension drop from your face that you were holding in when you were screwing your face up and frowning or scowling, relax your face, relax your mind, relax your state and body.
- Smile. It’s absolutely impossible to be depressed in any way, shape or form when you smile. It’s just not physically possible, so get into the habit of smiling all the time, to yourself, to others, on your own, in company, in the movies! Even if people don’t reciprocate, smiling is such a powerful to control your state, and if you don’t allow anyone or anything to influence it, you can be happy all the time. On top of this, it’s so attractive to other people. People are naturally attracted to happy people, they want to be around them all the time because it’s contagious, and it feels good to smile, so it makes sense to consciously smile.
Positivity is your soul’s naturally state; it just feels better! It’s a healing state for every part of your life, and by practicing positivity you will experience a fuller, happier quality of life with increased success, health and well being. It will improve your interactions with other people and your zest for life will just multiply exponentially. The only thing standing between you and your ideal outcome is your will power.
“Our bodies are our gardens… our wills are our gardeners”. William Shakespeare.
When your body is working at peak levels you perform better, you enjoy everything in your life, you achieve greater results and you influence more people by example.
