The Survival Guide For Young Entrepreneurs
There’s never been a better time to be an entrepreneur, especially in the current economy. As half the world falls about in drama, there are always massive opportunities opened up to those who can focus and find them; the secret is knowing where the opportunities are moving and doing things in a certain way. Young entrepreneurs now have the World at their feet, probably more so than the generation above us, because the entire global market, for every business, is shifting to the Internet. This means computer based internet jobs, and who better to succeed in this opportunity than the generation who grew up as children experiencing the first computers, the first mobile phones, tamagotchis, play stations, Xboxes, ipods, etc. We’re the generation who invented the ‘text language’, and many of us spend far too much time glued to facebook and youtube. So can you imagine what your life would be like if you could build your career making a success using these exact things, working on the things that we really just play at?
1. The secret is in Internet marketing. Whatever type of business you have, you absolutely must be on the Internet in some form, because like it or not, that’s where everybody is turning to solve all their solutions- major and minor, and if you’re not there then you don’t exist. But it doesn’t have to be daunting, imagine this: Everyday 100,000,000 new users start using the Internet. That’s one hundred million new users… everyday! That’s excluding the billions who were already using it the day before! If you can get your business on the internet and able to give value in some form; if not directly with your products or services, then through information in the form of eBooks, DVDs, books, etc, as you make yourself an authority on your profession. This means you can purposely put yourself in front of millions, potentially billions of prospective customers who are actively searching for what you offer. On top of that have your business automated so that you can be generating money 24/7, globally. That’s a pie you’d like a slice of, no?
2. So that’s the first point you must get right. The second is to go with what the people want; it’s no good trying to sell something that you think is amazing but there is no market for. Find out what people want, and give it to them in the very best, most suave and unique way that you possibly can, and you can do that by utilizing point number 1, as above. Internet marketing, do your due diligence, research who you need for which specific area of marketing for training, apply the methods and keep growing. Marketing can be as expensive or cheap as you like, the top end being Google PPC (pay per click) and the free marketing (but just as effective, often more targeted and authority building) article marketing, video marketing, social media marketing, etc. The point is getting traffic, but also making a notable name and brand for yourself. Get out there and get known, be recognisable and be a leader who people need to follow because of all the value you give them, It’s about relationship building today. People are fed up being conned and scammed, so public trust is at an all time low. For you, the businessperson, his means that cold selling is no longer an option, you’ve got to work harder, roll your sleeves up and get to work on becoming a trustworthy and genuine authority and leader. Give them value, give them a reason to trust you, and you will get their business.
3. As a young entrepreneur, you are to absolutely admired and respected for your courage and willingness to separate yourself from the rest of the pack, actually go for it, make something of yourself and live your dreams. Power to you. Naturally, being younger means you have less experience, so what is vital for you is to condense your learning time by immersing yourself in personal development and soaking as much knowledge, experience and wisdom from the masters so that you have a much more mature idea about and attitude towards your business and which actions you must always take. Look for leaders who inspire you, look for leaders, also, in your chosen profession who are actually successful, follow them and model them. Read and listen to everything you can to take on their wisdom; expand your mind. This means reading personal development and mindset books, listening to audios, attending as many seminars as you can. This is what the masters do even when they’re successful, so you better believe you need to do it at your early stage. Your mindset is the only thing that stands between you and your deserved success; actions can be taken to get you success, but that’s not it. If you don’t have the best mindset, you will be limited and you can never get to where you want to go because you are not mentally set to achieve it. Personal development is the single most important thing you must regularly do to be successful, and not once every so often, when you get time. You must carve time out everyday, at least half an hour, to some form of personal development, because your mind is a muscle, which must be worked out everyday to become strong. If you disregard it, it will become weak and flabby, and so will your results and strength of character.
4. Following on from the previous point is taking time to relax, but the correct type of relaxation. This means spending time goal setting, making vision boards with goals, long-term and short-term, that you want to achieve. Write them down, and close your eyes and visualise them as already being a reality. Your subconscious can’t distinguish between reality and imagination (and your subconscious is where your programming takes place) so when you vividly visualise, you give your subconscious a destination to seek and take you to. This practice also solidifies your goals in the forefront of your mind, so it helps you focus everyday on why you are doing what you are doing. This has been scientifically proven, and if you don’t believe that that go and read some books by:
- Jim Rohn - John Assaraf - Anthony Robbins - Bob Proctor - Steven Covey - Wayne Dyer And you will see these are the exact things that they teach, because they have practiced them and become extremely wealthy, healthy, successful and fulfilled by practicing them. 5. Choose your friends wisely. The people who you spend time with have so much of a dramatic impact on you, who you are, your attitudes, your income and where you’re going in life. If you have the wrong type of influence on you, including people who: - Have limited thinking - Want to hold you back (consciously or unconsciously) through their own insecurities - Distract you and keep you from focusing - Ridicule or question you - Put you down and disbelieve in you - Are into time wasting and brain destroying activities - Will leech and sponge off you - Make you angry, distressed, annoyed, upset, and down hearted
You get the point. All these negative influenced will drag you down and stop you from achieving your goals, and really becoming the person you have the potential to be if you were free to spread your wings. Often people don’t mean any harm when they do these things, and regularly these things can be so subtle they’re barely there, but you feel the effects in your heart. People do this for various reasons. Insecurity is one of the most popular reasons, because either they’re afraid that if you life yourself to higher ground then they will lose you. Or your success will draw into sharp perspective their own life and their own disappointments; perhaps remind them of dreams they once had but never came true because they didn’t apply themselves. Of course they’ll just tell you that you’re “being unrealistic”. Prepare yourself for these people! And distance yourself from them. Even if they are your best friends, which is more important to you- your life and fulfilling your mission, or your friends? It’s a decision you have to make and it’s rarely and easy one. It sounds harsh but you have to be brutal, but know you’re not on your own because it’s a decision all of us who have risen to success have had to make.
6. Focus. Stay on track every day and don’t procrastinate! Set your goals that you need to accomplish everyday and write them down the night before, pick them up in the morning and off you go. Focus diligently on them and don’t stray. You must think of your day like a bucket on the beach: First you must fill your bucket with the biggest and most important rocks of the day. Get them done and out the way with straight away. Then move on to the medium rocks, keep filling your bucket and don’t stop to go and help someone else fill theirs, or to go and eat and ice cream; there’s time for ice cream tonight! Then fill it with the small rocks and stones, and then finally top it up to full with sand to fill it to the brim. If you fill your bucket with sand and small stones at the beginning you will run out of time and space to put your big rock in the bucket. So stay on track and stay focused, and do not allow yourself to be distracted. This means cutting out unnecessary phone calls, text messages, email checking, youtube and facebook watching, etc. Leave them if you actually have time at the end of the day. You must become accustomed to thinking of your television as what it really is: an income-reducing box. Is that television programme taking you closer to your dream? Is it enriching you? Is it educating you? As difficult a habit as it is to bust, it must be done if you want to succeed. They survived without years ago, and believe me, when you’re successful it will have no place in your life. It is an immature zombie maker, so get back to reality and your life and actually go and live it!
7. Finally, take your health and energy seriously. You perform to your absolute best when you are fit, healthy, in peak energy, and have high self-esteem, self worth and confidence. This means eating a proper, energy promoting diet (natural energy, not taking in sugar, glucose, caffeine, fat, excess carbohydrates, etc). Do your research on alternative health and understand which foods your body needs to give you a certain energy level. Although this is really common sense: green vegetables, fruit, water, fish, nuts, whole grains, and cut right down on sugar, red meat, bread, fat, caffeine, dairy, etc. Eat small amounts regularly so that your topping your body energy up throughout the day, keeping yourself light, as opposed to skipping meals, getting really hungry, taking a big energy dip and having to compensate with artificial energy like sugary snacks and coffee. This is false energy and poisons your body and lowers your peak vibrations. Eating large heavy meals also makes you sluggish; that feeling of drowsiness after a large meal is your body shutting down your mental faculties and using all it’s energy just to digest the food you’ve just shocked your body with. This slows you down and robs your energy and vitality.
Exercising regularly keeps your natural energy levels and ‘happy’ levels high, as your body produces endorphins, which make you glow and feel great all day. This also speeds up your metabolism, and the physical effects also make you look and feel great, which boosts you confidence and self-esteem. When your confidence and self esteem is at its peak then you will always perform better than if you were feeling bloated, uncomfortable, under confident, etc. You wouldn’t be giving nearly as much juice to what you’re doing in that state as a peak state, would you? A great book I recommend to the hills is Anthony Robbins Unlimited Power to further your education on this.
8. Just do it, whatever it is you’re doing. Good for you for taking the bold steps to forge your own path in life. It’s so infinitely worth it and you have such an exciting journey in front of you, get excited about it! Don’t worry about mistakes you make along the way; mistakes are the quickest way to become wise and learn lessons, which is exactly why you may them. There’s no shame in mistakes or being inexperienced, the only thing to do is to just throw yourself into and get experienced. Take yourself lightly, don’t be hard on yourself, ignore the naysayers and bounce back up anytime you fall down. It’ll toughen you and you’ll learn the best way to do it next time. Go for it!
Good luck!
