Posted 04-03-2011 at 09:02 PM by ldklippert

Are you looking at Avon as a home business?

Little History About Avon...

In the 1880s, David McConnell, a door-to-door book salesman in upstate New York, thought that he might have better luck if he presented potential customers with a gift of perfume. By 1886, McConnell had formed the California Perfume Company, and within 20 years, 10,000 representatives were selling 117 products in 600 styles. In 1939, the company changed its name to Avon Products. The California Perfume Company was incorporated on January 28, 1916 by David H. McConnell and Alexander D. Henderson in Suffern, New York. By 1918, five million units were sold in North America, and by 1928, sales reached $2 million. Avon is one of the world's largest direct sellers of cosmetics, operates in more than 100 countries.

Avon Leadership...

Avon Products is a multi-level marketing company. The company's chairman and CEO is Andrea Jung, who was promoted to the position in 1999. She has completed a decade as CEO and is the longest tenured female CEO among Fortune 500 companies.
They uses both door-to-door sales people and brochures to advertise its products. In the United States, products may be found through eRepresentatives selling through online shops to customers all over the country. In addition to selling, Avon offers representatives the ability to be involved in the Leadership program, Avon’s network marketing opportunity, where Representatives recruit, mentor and train others to succeed.

How do They Pay...

You get paid a couple of ways. You are paid through direct sales to customers of Avon products either in person or through your Avon website. Here is the break down of commission earned for direct sales with Avon.

$1,550 or greater 50%

$900 - $1,549 45%

$425 - $899 40%

$285 - $424 35%

$145 - $284 30%
$25 - $144 20%

The second way is by growing representatives below you and growing their direct sales of products. You can earn and leverage more income off representatives below you from their direct sales also. By signing up other representatives you will earn different level of bonus's and commissions of direct sales.

Start-up Cost...

The initial cost to join Avon is $10 and $20 if you sign-up online. You will have other cost associated with this to start your business such as their marketing materials. Avon runs campaigns with their brochures. They come in a pack of 10 which cost you $5.75 per pack and the price goes down by purchasing 10 or more packs of brochures.

Overall Avon Opportunity...

I am not involved with Avon in any way. Is Avon a scam? No. Avon is a low cost start-up business that anyone could start. Most of your cost will be associated on how your market your Avon business to be successful. With low start-up cost and reasonable priced products Avon could be a successful business.
