I don't claim to have any magic key that will make you rich.
I can say that I have been sweating the details of making money
online since 1999 and have learned a thing or two.
It is unlikely you will find great life-changing insights in my
ramblings... but who knows, maybe something you read here
is the right puzzle-piece for you at the right time.
Enjoy. Let me know if you dig it.

Copywriting QuickTip #1

Your copywriting will always be awkward as long as it
represents a "forced" effort to sell.
The main thing is to write every day... and read copywriting
stuff every day, like the classic books:
-John Caples
-Joe Sugarman
-Claude C. Hopkins
-Robert Collier
-Gary Halbert
-Eugene Schwartz
... even a little - reading sales authors and books about
sales psychology is good too. You don't need a huge library
but you do need to have a daily diet of top-shelf reading,
Gradually you will notice that your own copy gets better as
you "internalize" the principles of selling in print.
You get your own style as you go, your own preferred selling
methods. I'm all for letting this develop and grow on a
subconscious level - "hypnotic" selling starts to happen
when you get in the flow of it... and sometimes the copy
just flows out in a torrent of genuine enthusiasm.
I always write best from a "peak state" of enthusiasm and
excitement. It's like I am talking to a friend and telling him
or her about something and I am excited for that person
to get the benefits of finding out for him or herself.
It sounds a little child-like, and for me it is... it's fun and
exploratory. You can go back and put in all the "hard hitting"
stuff later if the letter needs it - facts and figures and "proof"
- but try to maintain that core of excitment.
I don't want to lecture or claim I know 1/10th of what any
of the great copywriters know about selling - just that for
any writer you should find a way to LOVE what you are
doing and be excited about it. If a project bores you you
will probably write a boring letter - so just a like a romance
sometimes you have to work to keep it fresh.
