I don't claim to have any magic key that will make you rich.

I can say that I have been sweating the details of making money
online since 1999 and have learned a thing or two.

It is unlikely you will find great life-changing insights in my
ramblings... but who knows, maybe something you read here
is the right puzzle-piece for you at the right time.

Enjoy. Let me know if you dig it.

Copywriting QuickTip #3 - Those little details...

Posted 12-23-2008 at 06:33 PM by Loren Woirhaye

All The Little Details.

I don't know about you but I have a tendency to work on
projects in fits and starts. Finally putting the
finishing touches on something is something I avoid
and put off.

I'm a master woodworker and build guitars from time to
time in addition to being a marketing guy... and in
building guitars at some point you have to come to
terms with the limitations of your skills, put the
lacquer on it, string it up and get on with the next
one.

Same thing with writing. I'm obsessed with working to
become a more clear, funny, colorful, persuasive communicator
with my speaking and writing. I can hem and haw about
word choice and sentence structure all day long.

Ultimately though you and I just have to do our best and
put the stuff we create out into the world to pass or
fail in the judgements of others.

The truth is your copy doesn't have to be perfect to sell.
Enthusiasm and liveliness are better selling qualities
than studied perfection. You migtht be surprised at
how well some woefully "unfinished" looking copy has
sold. In fact I earned $27,000 once with meager
traffic and copy that was, by my standards today,
pretty bad. Yet my enthusiasm came through and people
bought my product because they got caught-up in my
enthusiasm.

At that point in my carreer I had no clue about good
copy. I was poorly-read on the subject. Maybe I
just got lucky.

Anyway. Just put some stuff out there. Just make sure
you do the best you can and write with passion. You
WILL get feedback from the marketplace.

The clarity with which you communicate your offer, the
WHY the reader should buy or opt-in determines your
results far more that studied perfection of grammar
or layout or copy structure. If you are pretty sure
you know how to reach the right people, than they want
the sort of thing you have, that they have the money
to buy it... and that you can get it through to them
so they GRASP it... then go for it. Write your own
copy. You might be surprised at what you can do.
