Reverse Affiliate Marketing

The way that affiliate marketing is traditionally taught doesn't work anymore.
Allow me to explain.
There are really 2 ways that affiliate marketing is being taught. The first one is direct linking to an offer.
This used to work back when Google Advwords was cheap..but due to the high cost of traffic these days, it simply doesn't work...and you are not building a list, which is where the real money is at.
More on that in a moment.
The second way(and most common way) affiliate marketing is taught is to create a freee report on a topic and give it away in exchange for an email address.
This works if, and only if, you have deep pockets to drive tons of traffic.
Here's why:
On Facebook, it is common to expect that you can get 1 lead for $1.
So for $500, you can expect to get 500 leads(or optins).
Now these are 500 people who have signed up for a free report...this isn't 500 purchases. Big difference.
Typically people will have a cheap upsell to help cover the cost of the traffic.
But here is the problem: Again, these people haven't purchased anything and most people don't even read their free reports because people don't value things that are free.
So when you email them to convince them to make a purchase, they don't know who you are.
But lets just say you are lucky and get a good open rate on your emails. 40% is considered very good.
So that means 200 people will see your email. Lets say you get a good click thru rate to your affiliate link that you have in the email.
20% is good. So 40 people will click the link to the sales page. A good converting sales page will convert at 1-2%
See how the math is not in your favor?
That list of 500 that you paid $500 for won't make you much money at all. Perhaps a few dollars.
Due to the poor math, you have to be able to drive a TON of traffic and have a high lifetime visitor value for this method to work.
For the average Joe and Jane, it is just not feasible.
There is a better way.
Instead of giving that report away, sell it.
This way, you can attract affiliates to drive all of the traffic for you...and you are building a list of buyers, not freebie seekers. BIG difference.
Do you think you can drive more traffic than an army of affiliates?
If so, you can disregard this, but if not, this method will work much better than the regular way of doing things.
