How's Your "Network of Luck"?

A few years back I remember chatting with a good friend about a working definition of 'luck' and how some people seem to have it in spades, or at least they get long runs of unbroken luck. Yet others are a walking disaster...
I liked his definition that luck is "Labouring Under Correct Knowledge" because this fitted with my belief that intentions (goals, desires, dreams) walk hand-in-hand with sustained action (in all its forms).
Most all (legally...) successful folks I've known or read about were no strangers to hard work and talent, mixed in with disappointments and triumphs along the way.
But there seems to be an additional ingredient in the recipe of luck these people cook from - and that's the magic of 'serendipity'. Being in the right place at the right time or catching that 'lucky' break might well be an intentionally applied skill (even if some folks are not always consciously aware they've got their radar locked on.)
This great article from Newsweek's Ben Sherwood (What It Takes to Survive a Crisis | Newsweek Books | Newsweek.com) about surviving major life events or disasters/emergencies also touches on Prof. Richard Wiseman's research on the "network of luck".
(I have Richards' book "The Luck Factor" which is a good 'pop-psychology' read and even more effective if you actually apply some of the advice offered.)
While 'stuff happens' all the time (and a lot of the sad, bad items keep our media outlets in business...) there's every reason to "do what you can, with what you have, right where you are" and let those serendipity chips fall where they may.
Are you building a network of luck in your life and in your online business?
You never know - ours might overlap one fine day - btw mine's a pint of the dark stuff ;-)
