I first posted about the fake blogs back in December of 2008 when Michael Brown showed me one called "Brads Money". We laughed at how ridiculous it was and wondered how anyone could fall for something so obviously fake.
Well, 6 months later and now the number of fake blogs has increased so much that I've had to put them into their own Fake Blogs a-z directory!
Not far behind the fake blogs (which I've sinced learned are called "flogs") are the fake news sites which I recently heard described as "Spamazines". So far they haven't warranted their own directory, but they are also starting to pick up in speed as evidenced by the growing list at my blog post called Are fake news sites the next gold rush?
Some of the fake news sites indicate they are an "advertisement" but bizarrely also put "ADVERTISEMENTS" on the right site of the fake news site.
It would be nice if the FTC would start going after these sites, especially in light of their new rules, but most likely the spammers and scammers running these will continue to outwit and out run the FTC as they always have and the FTC will go after easier "marks".
Oh well.
