Taking Action And Making Progress

I'm making progress on my main marketing website, Taylor Journals.

It started out as just a blog. Then I got the idea to make it into a membership site.

Then I got distracted...(has that ever happened to you?)

My Copernican Revolution

So now I've suddenly shifted mental gears, waking up at 5am everyday, starting to assemble all my accumulated knowledge on marketing (over 15 years of study...sheesh...c'mon already...what was I waiting for?), and putting together some good stuff.

Funny thing about taking action...there's actually something I can look at in the world and feel at least a little bit of accomplishment.
So why did I wait 15 years? Believe it or not, it wasn't until just recently that I started reading books and watching videos on goal setting, taking action, and making things happen.

Now I'm developing an action-oriented mindset that's finally having a real outward effect. Funny thing is, the more I study the action stuff, the more "automatically" I take action.

Yeah...I should have STARTED with THOSE kind of books 15 years ago instead of the egghead copywriting books. I know...I know.

Well...at least I can sympathize with people of a similar dilemma.
:p
A Premium Content Button

In the past day, I've added a "Premium Content" button to my wishlist installation.

It will show up on posts in the blog section that I've protected behind the paywall. All other posts that are free to non-members won't have that button.

The effect this button has is to induce the "I want that" feeling inside non-members.

I visit a site that has a mix of free and paid info...they use a button like this.

I still haven't joined, but they have a ton of members only articles with this darned button...every time I see an article I want to read that has the button, I want to finally become a member. I will eventually, but just not now.

But that button helps elevate my "I want that" levels every time I see it.

You Didn't Say The Magic Word

I've also started hacking together the page that shows up when a non-member tries to read a premium post.

I'm basing the rough draft off of the WishList Insider sales letter, but when I get the layout set, I'm gonna change the copy. Just want to get something on page that I can see.

Premium Content Creation

And today, I'm going to be adding five pieces of premium content to get the ball rolling. My plan is to add twenty initial bits of content behind the paywall and then open up shop.

No big launch. I'm content with starting slow and building up a reputation and letting members trickle in.

Modeling Success

I need to visit a few good members only sites to get an idea of how I want my info to be structured. I like Bill Myers' site and a few others.

Modeling success is faster than pure invention.
