6 Tips For Building a Highly Profitable Email List

Building a list of quality readers is (in my opinion) essential to your success as an Internet Marketer, and working this sector properly or improperly can make or break your future in this field. I have put together a few crucial tips for you below.
#1: Build a relationship with your audience. People don't like someone they don't know trying to sell them something. It is human nature to lean towards saying, "no," immediately when asked a yes or no question even if your real answer should be, "yes."
Imagine you've just entered a sporting goods store (or any other kind for that matter), and you haven't found what you're looking for just yet. When the sales associate approaches you to ask you if you need any help, I would be willing to bet that 9 times out of 10, you immediately reply, "no thank you," before you've even considered the question. If you think I'm wrong, you'll think of me the next time you do exactly what I've just described, which will most likely be within the next week.
The point of telling you that was to let you know that it is incredibly important that you build a relationship with your audience through email marketing before you expect them to buy from you.
#2: Give something away. This is a great way to start building your relationship with your target market. Give them something that will be of value to them before you try to sell them anything. You can use your freebie to gain opt-ins to your list by creating a squeeze page, like you'll see by clicking the link for my free Make Money Online report.
#3 Have a newsletter opt-in page. Another way to get people to opt-in to your list is by creating a web page that advertises what your readers will gain by opting in. You can click the link see my Miranda Delner newsletter sign-up page as an example of this.
#4 Start selling right away (once you have given away your relationship-building freebie). The key to making your automated email list amazingly successful, is to start selling right away without being "salesy". You need to plant seeds and nurture your subscribers. You do this by giving them information that they are looking for in your niche....more free, targeted information. You can also do this by sharing your own personal stories of your own personal experiences as they apply to your niche topic, and you can add a link to a product in your signature.
Every third email or so, you can send more of a sales type email explaining what the product you're advertising can offer them and why you created or affiliated the product. This is where affiliating the products of others comes into play because you won't have enough of your own products to keep your list full of emails just yet.
#5 Stay in touch...but not too much. One way you can go wrong right off the bat is to email too much or too little. Too much (every day to three days) is going to annoy your subscribers, and too little (more than a week apart in the beginning) is going to make them forget about you.
#6 Keep your price point in check. Another way to be sure to get some unsubscribes is to offer nothing but high-priced items. Remember, more likely than not, your subscribers are on your list because you offered them something for free. Trying to sell them something for $324 dollars immediately following that is most likely going to turn them off to you and your ideas.
If you have 1000 people on your list, and 200 of them buy a $7 product that you send a broadcast message about. That's $1400 in your pocket. That's a whole lot more profitable than getting one of them to buy a $324 product that you receive a 50% affiliate commission on. Be smart. Think about what you would want if you were the subscribers on your list.
