ASD Cash Generator: The 'Kool-Aid Drinker' Assertion
Posted 08-07-2008 at 10:15 PM by Patrick Pretty
Having spent much of the day following developments in the AdSurfDaily litigation and reading many Blog, forum and website posts, it is becoming increasingly clear that some ASD members plan a letter-writing campaign to attack the government's case.
Investigators have been portrayed as evil Nazis who took reckless action against tens of thousands of ASD members by filing the forfeiture complaint.
There have been demands that the government resolve the issue in ASD's favor immediately. These have been balanced to a certain degree by posts from the adult sons and daughters of ASD members who are senior citizens. The kids are worried that Mom and Dad have been taken to the cleaners.
Some ASD members have been extremely vitriolic, painting the government and ASD critics as evildoers. Yes, God is a big part of the discussion. Andy Bowdoin referred to God in a recording I listened to, and Golden Panda President Clarence Busby also evoked God.
These frequent references to religion have provided fuel for some critics. ASD followers are blind, they say, and a bunch of "Kool-Aid drinkers." Today I noticed that some ASD members who professed their religious beliefs appeared to be angered by the actions of certain of their Christian colleagues for providing Andy Bowdoin such deferential treatment.
The bad news is starting to sink in. Some blinders are coming off, and some people who identified themselves as Christians have argued that following ASD blindly is not the way to go.
In any event, it has been a long and interesting day. If you have a minute, you can get my Blog compilation on the ASD investigation here (its in a Zip folder):
