If your site has been hacked, its possible you have a Trojan running on your own computer. Unfortunately, no single solution seems to stop everything

Snake Oil, Vitamin X, and PowPow Doctors

I spend an inordinate amount of time with clients dealing with urban myths, legends, half-truths, and unsubstantiated claims. Often, they have spent a considerable portion of their advertising budget on snake oil.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Kill Fees and Clients

Do you have clients? If you do, you no doubt do proposals, mockups, designs, drafts, etc.

I have a simple statement on my client's contract that if I don't get the dev work, the design can be licensed in perpetuity for XX$ but that the license is not exclusive. ONCE I had a client steal a design and give it to another design firm. I asked them for the license fee and took them to small claims court when they ignored me. Won the fee plus expenses.

Local Marketing - First Round

Just finishing up the first round of local marketing from an Austin maternity photographer. Definitely underestimated the time needed, but now I have enough new raw data to start automating!

One thing I am watching - as I worked on updating names, addresses, etc in citatation sources like Yellobot, as well as local and vertical directories, how varied the backlink was. Some had true follow links, some even indexed very rapidly and were showing up in Google results. Others had nofollow...
