At any large forum there is often a large amount of forum reply spam. In other words members will post meaningless or nearly meaningless replies in an effort to do one of the following:

1) Get their signature file noticed.
2) Get their post count up to increase their forum benefits (i.e. some forums require that you post a certain number of times before you can have a signature line).

Often it's easy to identify reply spam because the posters engaging in this typ of activity don't even make an attempt to provide real contributions to the forum.

Also, certain affiliate programs actually recommend that their affiliates use reply spam and eventually that fact becomes well known.

For example, I recently noticed The Rich Janitor affiliate program recommends that their affiliates use reply spam.

In fact, they even provide reply spam templates for their affiliates to "personalize" for their own use.

They do try to cover what they are recommending by saying:

"IMPORTANT guideline to remember: Always think about contributing to the forum in a positive manner, never ever spam, and also never plagiarize (always cite the source of an article you post or link to). If you blindly spam, you may risk getting banned from a forum and we never recommend this.

Easy forum replies for almost ANY threads (please personalize if it makes sense)

Note: These are only example replies for you to model from."

But the real point is, why do they provide these reply templates at all?
