How to do Own Reputation Management

There are plenty of reputation management companies out there that will remove anything on the internet that can tarnish your reputation. You most definitely need to hire one if you are about to go public on something you are doing.
However, you need to take some initiative in making sure your reputation is clean as well. There are some steps you can take in order to do that:
1. Do a Google search on your name and see if anything negative about you comes up.
2. If you find something negative, make sure you save the link. You can always contact the individual who had purposely tried to ruin your reputation and ask them politely to take it down. Most of the time they will either ignore your inquiry or reply back “no”. Then this is where you will need help with your reputation management. You can always email them back telling them that if they refuse to take it down, you will have a professional do it for them. Sometimes that alone can scare them enough to do it. But many times they will ignore you. Again this is where the reputation management company comes in.
3. Always, always, always make sure that you create a positive, professional and friendly online presence. If you do, then people will gravitate to you and be interested in what you have to offer. And if they were to read up on something written up poorly about you, they would not pay attention to it.
