How Do I Create Video Products?

Video product creation is a piece of cake as long as you forget about making it perfect and just do it. I have three simple ways to make video products: Camtasia, a digital camera, or a Flip camera.

The easiest kind of video you can create, in my opinion, is the screen capture video. You can do this with Camtasia or its free alternative, Jing. Just resize your screen to 640 by 480 resolution, and record yourself doing something... writing a sales letter, setting up a WordPress blog, whatever you can think of. If you want to give a lecture, leave Notepad or Microsoft Word open while you present and type in keywords as you dictate to illustrate your point. Even better, create a PowerPoint presentation and record the screen capture in full screen mode, so you have slides to accompany your audio presentation.

The next thing you could try is a live action video. I have seen people sit in front of their computers (at a web cam) and record videos talking about a subject. I have seen people on walks outside talking about whatever they want to talk about, under the backdrop of the outdoors. Another popular and widely copied format is the "driving while talking" video. Do to this, simply drive your car around town, get a passenger to point the camera at you, and deliver your message. (I am not responsible if you crash your car in the process.)

What is so cool about live action video these days is that most digital cameras allow you to use video. You do not need a $1000 Hi8 or HDTV camera with a built in hard drive... your digital camera will work perfectly fine for small YouTube web-based videos.

If you want to move one step up from digital cameras, you still do not need anything fancy. Amazon produces the Flip video camera, which features a single big red button to record up to 60 minutes of video, for under 100 dollars. You just plug it in and easily upload to YouTube. That really is the easiest way to record live action video, especially if you are brand new.

Those are my three ways to quickly and easily record videos: Camtasia, digital cameras, and Flip cameras. What are you waiting for? Get out there right now and start recording videos to add to infoproducts or to submit to blogs and video sites.
