SecondIncomeReview.com: Attending Webinars, Reading Books, and more!
This is simply a rant! I want you to gather information from legitimate sources that will help you build your business. If I can help you to reexamine your decision before you make it, I’ve done my job.
It still amazes me the comments I receive from home based online business owners and internet marketers “trying” to make money online. One of the first things that I ask them is “What are you doing to learn more about your business?”
Some of the answers I receive are things like “I surf the web”, “I talk w/ my friends”, “I get lots of newsletters”, etc.
Those might be useful if they actually know about what they speak. Is there really knowledge there, or are you getting opinions and sales hype?
The web, associates online, and newsletters can have valuable information and tips to help you, but what I have found to be the most advantageous method of gaining knowledge is through books and webinars.
Books, the library is full of them, though they may be dated, they are still a useful resource for your research into whatever your online niche may be.
Online booksellers have the most recent publications, with the latest information about what is happening in the online marketing industry.
Look for the books that have been reviewed multiple times, and the vast majority of the reviews are raves of how useful the information is, and what it has done to help the reviewer’s business(es).
There is a idiom that says ‘read 10 books about your niche and you will become an expert”, I don’t know how true that actually is, but I do know that if you read 10 books about your particular niche you will be one of the most informed people around.
The next area of gaining expertise is to find the webinars on the niche you are targeting. These webinars can be a wealth of information about your niche, with new and better ways to market, what is successful, who the leaders in the industry are (great to associate with), new products, upcoming events, and more.
Remember, there will always be folks out there trying to make a buck off you, and your lack of knowledge in any particular area, that is why you need to associate with successful individuals. Get recommendations, or when you read a book or attend a webinar, pass that information past others that know about that topic, do not just jump into something with out doing some research and getting verification.
I have seen to many people read a book or attend a webinar and because of the dynamic nature of the presentation they jump right in. Stop, look & listen! Get the facts!
That is my disclaimer about books and webinars, but that does in no way detract from my belief that the best information, education and knowledge will be attained by these two methods.
