Online marketing trends

There are so many people out there selling a bunch of crapola it isn't funny.
Let me point out some things I think should be obvious to the most casual online marketer.
Google still hold #1 traffic rank according to http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/google.com
yes facebook is a strong #2 but even if facebook became #1, lets not lose sight of why we go to google and why we go to facebook.
Primarily I go to google to search for things and do research. I dont go to facebook for this. More about facebook later (as they seem to be developing a network wide ID type system that provides an ID to log into zillions of other sites.)
SO while you can make money on facebook buying side ads, you can make even more by having top 10 rankings on google for targeted keyword searches. #1 on google gets almost 50% of the traffic, and # 10 on the #1 google SERP is actually the new 4, and can get you significant clicks, I estimate at least 80% of search traffic never gets past the first page. Facebook allows you to truly target your ads as they have quite a bot of data on their users, but people do not go to facebook to be bombarded with ads, and will not be nearly as click happy as they are after a few google searches.
