The WSO Affiliate Emails Bandwagon

This blog post isn't about knocking the affiliate WSO system,- in fact I think it's a terrific system and that the script used to manage it is excellent and so full marks go to Mike Lantz for his innovative skills there.
What this post is about however, is the huge barrage of emails that clog up my inbox all telling me about the latest and greatest WSO that just came out.
Now, I love this Warrior Forum and I do buy a fair number of WSO's. Probably between 1 and 4 per week at least on average. Some are excellent and others less wonderful but all in all the WSO is my favorite forum on WF.
Here's the issue though; in buying the various WSO's I of course end up subscribing to the "product updates" list for whatever WSO I just bought. That's fine but what happens a lot (like way too much!) is that the vendor/promotor of those products then takes the liberty of notifying me about virtually every new WSO of the day that hits the shelves. This to me is an abuse of privelige and certainly could be categorized as unsolicitated and unrelated product promotion.
There are only a handful of IMers/Warriors that I entertain emails from about WSO's because I either respect their viewpoint or I gave some kind of tacit permission to make such contact. Amongst this list of "the privileged" is Ken Reno, Ken Sar, Richard Wing and Craig Mako (that's enough I think,.. plus Mike Lantz of course with his quite welcome WSO of the day updates)), but there is now a whole legion of wannabees jumping on the bandwagon and choking up my inbox with "hey check this out" emails on the latest WSO of the day even though I only signed up to their list for product updates of their own WSO.
Consequently, many of those promoters have missed out because I have started unsubscribing from the lists of serial offenders!
No wonder email open rates are going down (read "plummeting") with all these shenanigans going on.
As a promoter of my own WSO's I of course have a growing list of purchasers but I never send out emails specifically on any new WSO itself as I don't want people unsubscribing from my list so that when I do have relevant valuable product updates to notify of then it's more likely I will get a better response. I've applied this and whilst it's not a perfect system it does work and I very rarely get any unsubscriptions.
What I have done though is to tag on a "PS" with a link in it for some relative product that I think would be useful to my readers and could only be considered relevant to the purpose of the email and the purpose of being on my list.
