How To Shatter The 5 Marketing Myths That Kill Success

Introduction: This is a blog post on internet marketing awareness. It will expose the 5 biggest causes of internet marketing failure and show you how to avoid them in your business.

The purpose of this post is to give you an understanding of these 5 profit killing mistakes so you can literally chop years off the sharp learning curve to success in this unforgiving industry.

Upon completing this report, you’ll be aware of some of the biggest challenges internet marketers face and you’ll know exactly how to avoid them.

I remember when I began my education as an internet marketer over 7 years ago, I was…

Broke, Struggling, And Drifting Aimlessly…

I was lost, overwhelmed, and confused. I didn’t know where to start or what to do. Have you ever felt like this? Are you in a similar situation? If you are, read on and this report will give you clarity in a rogue sea of confusion – and can even save you from drowning in an economic bloodbath.

The sad truth is that more online marketers are throwing in the towel, and even more will be giving up in the future. There are several reasons for this on which I’ll elaborate on in this report.

Please don’t view this information fearfully, for my intention is that you’ll be awakened and empowered so you can save yourself from sudden financial disaster.

My intention is to help you shorten your learning curve and eliminate years of painful and expensive mistakes, or worse – have you give up on yourself like so many others have.

So as promised, here are the 5 deadly mistakes that kill internet marketing success and how to avoid them…

Profit Killing Internet Marketing Mistake #1: Information Overload

This problem is real. When you’re starting out, you obviously need education. So you buy some eBooks and start learning. You might even invest a few thousand bucks on a serious marketing course.

At first, it’s a rush. You’re mind is stimulated and it’s exciting. But after a while, the excitement turns to feeling of frustration. This is a normal reaction to being overwhelmed.

But here’s where things take a turn for the worst – information begins to contradict each other. Every course or product promises itself to be the “missing piece” or the “missing key”, yet those missing pieces only make you aware that you’re still missing even more pieces to your puzzle. So you continue on your quest for knowledge and buy more courses, which in turn will lead to more information overload. It really is a vicious cycle.

It’s not uncommon for an internet marketer to spend years in the “information overload” zone. I personally spent over 7 years spinning my wheels and making almost no money online.

One of the secrets for avoiding the information overload trap is to balance education with action. When you start out, you should spend 50% of your time learning and 50% applying what you’ve learned. As you progress, you should gradually decrease your time spent learning while increasing your actions.

Another secret for overcoming information overload is to learn from one source at a time in a step-by-step systematic process.

Profit Killing Internet Marketing Mistake #2: Not Knowing What Works And What Doesn’t

This is pretty much an extension of the first mistake.

One of my marketing mentors once taught me that, “it takes near genius to recognize genius”. To put it another way, you’ve got to be good to know what’s good.

So the problem when starting out is, how do you know what’s going to be good? And how can you tell what’s going to work? The answer is harsh: you can’t.

And here is where the painful and expensive trial and error learning curve begins. Here’s how it normally works out: You buy 6 courses and only 1 actually helps you. Let’s say you spent a total of $3,000 ($500 each course times 6 courses). So you basically just wasted $2,500 on crappy information. But that’s not even the worst part!

Let’s also say you spent an average of 20 hours on studying each course to learn the information. This means you’ve also lost 100 hours of time that could have been spent productively building actual business assets.

That’s 100 valuable hours you could have been using to grow your business gone forever. And another downfall here is that your mind is now polluted with a bunch of useless or even harmful information.

This brings me to the point I wish to make clear, dear reader. Until you get good, your mind won’t always be able to tell the difference between beneficial information and misinformation. Are you noticing how this becomes an ongoing cycle of frustration and confusion?

The solution here is to hook up with a marketer you can trust and follow his instructions and advice.

Profit Killing Internet Marketing Mistake #3: Having An Opportunistic Mindset

There is a huge difference in the “make money” mindset when compared to the “real business building” mindset.

However, most internet marketers today are still operation from the “make money” mindset, and that’s okay.

But the problem here is that opportunities come and go. The perfect example would be an inexperienced internet marketer posting Facebook spam trying to make a few lousy Clickbank affiliate sales while a few elite entrepreneurs are easily crushing the competition in affiliate contests because they've actually spend some time in the trenches building their lists.

The difference lies in the business building mindset. The real winners online are the ones who know how to turn opportunities into business.

The secret here is to stop ‘reacting’ and start creating. I’ve wasted many years in reaction mode myself. It’s easy to get distracted by a new product or opportunity.

Focusing on critical business elements is necessary to insure your online success in 2011 and beyond. The key for solving this problem is doing the exact opposite of mistake #4, which is…

Profit Killing Internet Marketing Mistake #4: Not Being On The Cutting Edge Of Technology

Mark my words, internet marketing as we know it is dead. In case you aren’t familiar with ‘traditional’ internet marketing, it basically means building a list and selling products. While a few savvy marketers have made fortunes in this way, the rules of the game are constantly changing.

Years ago, internet marketing was different. But right now, there’s a huge evolution happening online that’s changing the way online marketing is being done forever. The IM niche has literally millions of competitors. Marketing online will never be the same.

The strategy before was to just get people to sign up for your list and mail them offers. This lacks creativity and there’s no additional value being offered. There’s no leadership in this kind of transaction, no direction, and no real mastery on the concept of online marketing.

So guess what happens? Those who are keeping up with the vital trends of our industry and integrating those concepts into their internet marketing businesses will be able to practically steal their competitor’s customers. This is the shift I’m talking about that’s happening in our industry right now. In this market, the ones who are on the cutting edge of internet technology will ultimately reap rewards from their efforts.

And unfortunately, even many intermediate internet marketers don’t understand the all of the concepts needed to succeed in today’s ever evolving industry.

Here’s an example of what’s been happening: The internet marketers who have been making their money the old fashioned way are now finding out that their outdated techniques are no longer effective. They haven’t taken the time to develop a powerful social presence.
Suddenly, the old school marketer’s once respectable income plummets and he’s clueless on why. And worse, he doesn’t know how to fix it. Meanwhile, a ruthless new breed of social internet marketers come into the game and takes over his profits.

This is real and happening online right now. And it’s going to continue in this manner until a few elite marketers dominate the industry. It’s a natural law of evolution. The question is: Are you going to lose your customers and profits or take the lion’s share yourself?

Now here’s the big challenge to this game…

Profit Killing Internet Marketing Mistake #5: The Lack Of A Complete ‘From The Ground Up’ Internet Business Building System

This fifth mistake is one of the biggest reasons why internet marketers fail.

First, there are a lot of great marketing courses available. However, many of them are created for the intermediate to advanced marketers who are already knowledgeable and experienced.

So how does this help the beginner? Usually this only adds to the already present information overload.

Here’s an example: One aspiring marketer buys a course on Facebook marketing. He sets up a campaign and it flops. Right away he’s losing $60 – 80 and day and he has no idea why, so he gets discouraged and gives up.

Later he buys a course on video marketing. This is a great way to get free traffic and all the pros use videos. So he makes some videos and still doesn’t get that ‘magic’ result he was looking for. And why not? Because he’s still missing so many other pieces to the puzzle.

In building a business online, you can remove one vital component from your machine and derail your entire bullet train of creative values overnight.

Most gurus would like you to believe that their product is the “missing puzzle piece” for your business, and maybe it is a valuable and effective product. But in most cases, beginner marketers are missing 12 or more pieces. And worse, they don’t even know what they’re missing, and so they become vulnerable to all kinds of sales pitches that come their way.

And there’s a reason no one is giving you every piece to the puzzle. That reason is, in one word: specialization. They learn from other “gurus” to specialize in a particular sub-niche. So one person can teach you a killer Facebook ad strategy, another person would be your banner ad expert, the next person being a SEO wizard, and so on…

The dirty secret the gurus have kept from you is...

They’re pretty much experts at everything. However, their focus on specialization prevents them from revealing this to you.

And it’s for this reason that I’m doing something unordinary to really make a change…

I am soon to be revealing my most powerful business building secrets that can revolutionize the way you think about business building in 2012 and beyond.
