The Act of Forgiving Others

Posted 11-28-2008 at 04:03 AM by sesantek

Hello dear visitor, you are welcome to read today's parenting tip. Last time on this blog I discussed an important act you must learn to demonstrate in your relationship with your child - the act of saying “I am Sorry”.

Today, I want to discuss another important act which you must not only demonstrate but also must ensure you teach your children. I’m talking about the act of forgiving others.

Are you fond of not accepting your spouse’s pleas for forgiveness after any disagreement? Do you keep going over issues of past days or months that should have been buried when your spouse said “Darling, forgive me for that action of mine. I am very sorry?” Do you even go to the extent of displaying this negative act in the presence of your children?

If you do all of these, you are not passing the right message across to your children!

The Bible says in Matthew 6:14(TLB):

“Your heavenly father will forgive those who sin against you; but if you refuse to forgive them, He will not forgive you”

The above statement is from Jesus to His disciples (us). If you need God’s favor in all you do, then you must love to forgive those who have offended you.

So dear parent, this is a wonderful act you must learn to put up and also pass across to your kids right form their early years.

See you next time.
