Is it Membernaire, Microcontinuity, or Something Else

Posted 09-24-2009 at 06:43 AM by shermancox

I did way too much reading before starting my membership program. I wish I had just taken the plunge, but one thing that I have learned is that a lot of these programs are essentially the same.

The biggest takeaway from membernaire, microcontinuity, and the membership masterplan of yaro starak is that you should have a "fixed term membership site." Sure they use different terms, but this is the key.

Content

Now they do diverge some in regards to content. Jimmy D. Brown's membernaire is totally a lesson. If you want more interaction you have to pay extra for it. Microcontinuity gives you a video and some extras here and there. Finally Yaro Starak provides a membership forum with a lot of interactivity with members. In addition you get the lessons.

I like Jimmy D. Brown's approach to take in folks at the basic level and then upgrade them to the higher level, but there is really little difference here. Jimmy D. breaks it up and Yaro bundles the two (lessons and personal help) together.

Selling

As far as sellign the thing goes. Microcontinuity hits you with a forced continuity on a "free plus shipping" offer. Pretty cool, but I am really scared of a fixed continiuity offer. I fear many people will think I tricked them into signing up for it. I know you can be clear in the sales page, but I am still a bit scared. I may try it in my next program though.

Jimmy D. Brown, it seems that I have found him through a ton of affiliates. In his program he notes that he gives free viral reports, but I did not see it. What I did see was a ton of free reports with the same information from various people's blogs. But when you get to the page, he simply sells you the membership. No sidestepping, he tells you the offer and that is it.

The Yaro Starak Mastermind uses some huge buildup and a membership launch (ala the product launch formula). He normally gives a free ebook and creates an email list where he builds anticipation.

Limit Sales

Interestingly all three provide some sort of limit to the number of folks who can sign up. Very helpful stuff. Yaro Starak does have a limit to how many folks he can help in that his program is so interactive. In addition, there is a customer service limit as Russel Brunson demonstrates when you can't keep up with the number of orders or changes to orders.

UpSells

Brunson's program has a ton of upsells. In fact it gets irritating trying to get through them all. However, I am sure he makes a ton with it. I do plan to incorporate this very soon.

Membernaire makes use of Clickbank which only recently allowed upsells to certain customers, so I had no OTO upsells. However, you do get hit with some upsells through the weekly lessons.

I don't know what Yaro does in that I only got his free stuff.

Content Delivery

Membernaire shows that you don't need any high priced membership software. Just get an autoresponder and you have a membership site. Yaro looks like he has a forum and uses wordpress to deliver his content.

So what is my site?

My site is a cross between all of the above. You can call it a membernaire site. You can call it a membership mastermind site. You can even call it a microcontinity site. In the end it takes the main component of all three which is "Fixed Term Membership."

If I had to choose just one, I would choose membernaire. You will get the big picture, but you will also get a bunch of little hints to help you.
