Which Affiliate Program Is Right For Your ?

Posted 12-20-2008 at 02:54 AM by Shishay Wubshet

Affiliate program is one of the most lucrative and simplest ways to start an online business.

In this article I will show you 4 types of affiliate programs.

You can join affiliate programs either selling a single product or affiliate networks selling thousands of products like, Clickbank or Commission junction.

Affiliate networks I mentioned above have thousands of product.

So, you have multiple options to choose a product that you think has the highest probability of profit.

There are four types of affiliate program payment arrangements:

1. Pay per sale

This type of affiliate arrangement is the most common, where merchants pay you a commission if you send them a visitor and the visitor purchases products or services through your link.

For example, if you send a buyer to Clickbank and visitors through your link buy an e-book, you get a commission.

Usually, the amount of money you get is the percentage of sells or some merchants have fixed commission arrangements.

Commission Junction and Clickbank are some of affiliate networks which work on pay per sale basis.

2. Pay per click

In pay per click affiliate program arrangement, the merchant pays affiliates based on the number of visitors who click on the link to come to the merchant's site.

If you join any pay per click affiliate program, it is not a requirement that visitors who click a link from your website buy anything. You get paid if the link you are promoting is clicked.

Google Adsense is the most widely popular pay per click affiliate program.

3. Pay per lead

Affiliate program merchants based on this type of arrangement pay their affiliates based on the number of visitors they refer who sign up as leads. This simply means the visitor fills out some requested information at the merchant site, which the merchant site may use as a sales lead or sell to another company as a sales lead.

4. Pay Per Action

Companies running these programs pay their affiliates when their visitors download, install, or use some product or service. For instance, Google offers pay per action as part of Adsense program, where affiliates are paid if they let their visitors download a Firefox browser from Google website.

Summary

As there are multiple types of affiliate program, you should use the right type.

You should also note that, most of the time, for every type of affiliate program, you should use different traffic generation and conversion techniques to get the most.
