Scattered Ducks

When you are planning to take a much needed vacation, and you know you are leaving in two days, what do you do that is so drastically different that allows you to accomplish so much in such a short amount of time? When you KNOW that you have to be on that plane, you can get things done systematically and can do much more than any other time during the year.

You can get the clothes picked up from the dry cleaners, get the dog to the kennel, get the bills all paid, get the car washed, get the mail stopped, get the neighbor to watch the house, buy all the things that you are going to need for the trip, set the timers so that the lights come on and go off while you are gone and get the suitcases packed all within the last few hours before you leave!

When the holidays are approaching and you know that friends and family members are coming to stay with you for a few days, how is it that you can turn into a super-human being and get 3 months worth of work done in just a few short hours?

You get the carpets cleaned, the screens fixed, the deck painted, touch up the paint around the exterior doors, fix that toilet that has been running for months, replace that broken handle on the cabinet, clean up the play room, mow the grass, pick up the fallen limbs, mulch the leaves and hose down the driveway in a very short amount of time!!

How do you become so organized all of a sudden? Here is the answer: You get your ducks in a row!

You make a list! You know what has to be done. You prioritize. You write the items down, and then you check them off one at a time as they are completed. You can really put out the work when you place that kind of pressure on yourself! You get your "ducks in a row."

So, what is the problem the rest of the year? Scattered ducks! You get things scattered all over the place. You get started on one project and if you aren't careful, you will get on to another project without finishing the first one.

Scattered ducks.

There's just something to be said for organizing your thoughts, your purposes and your goals. Everybody needs to have goals. We need to have long term goals, and short term goals. Around the house, or anywhere else. No matter what you are dealing with,if you are working for yourself or working for someone else, it doesn't matter. We need to have goals. We need to learn how to focus. We need to get those ducks in a row.

Scattered ducks. Get 'em in a row! Line them up!

Your business MUST have the ducks in a row. You can't have them scattered all over the place. There are a lot of things that you need to learn in internet marketing. There are a lot of things that you need to learn to be a good internet marketer. But you can't be good at ALL of it.

Here's what happens. You try a little PPC, then a little video marketing, then someone comes along and say, "You need to try article marketing." So you try article marketing until someone else says, "Google adsense is where you are really going to make some money!" So you abandon everything else and try adsense for a while. And then something else comes along and you try that until you hear someone say, "You have to build a list because that's what will really get the job done!" If you are not really careful, you will have so many irons in the fire and your ducks will be so scattered that you really don't get any good at any of it. You can't be successful that way. You have to settle in on something. I'm talking to you and I'm talking to me because I did exactly the same thing.

I went from one idea to the next for the first three years of my internet marketing career. I didn't focus on anything in particular. I learned a lot, but I wasted three years that could have been more productive had I settled on one idea and become good at it. You can't do everything. You will drive yourself crazy and drive those around you crazy while you are at it. And you won't get anywhere.

So, what's the answer? Get those ducks in a row! Figure out all the different things that are possible for you to learn and then decide where you want to place your focus. Learn that, get good at it and then move on to something else.

There is no such thing as push button marketing, push button riches or push button anything. There are guys that will tell you that it exists and that you can be making thousands, even millions of dollars with just pushing a button and working 30 minutes a day. It's not going to happen that way. You have to get your ducks in a row. You have to decide what you want to be good at, and then you have to GET good at it.

I got so tired of running all over the internet. I bought so many courses; I spent so much money; I wasted so much time. I hired coaches; I went from one to the other like everyone else seems to do. You don't have to do it that way.

You need a starting point: ScatteredDucks.com. You do need to learn some of the basics: domain names, building a website, etc. But you most likely aren't going to be a pro at SEO, RSS, html, ftp. You need to know what it all means, but you can't be a pro at all of it. You need help with some of it.

Get your ducks in a row! Scattered ducks will confuse you, make you disappointed and cause you to feel overwhelmed. You just can't have all this going on at once.

The sooner you get started, the sooner you are going to make some money. ScatteredDucks.com.
