Article Marketing Mistakes

Posted 01-05-2011 at 01:07 AM by TimG

Did you know that a poorly written resource box can be a major article marketing campaign killer?

In fact, no matter how much traffic you get to your article, it’s not going to do you any good if those people don’t click your links!

When writing your resource box, it’s very important to make it interesting and to really give the reader a reason to click your links.

Resource box DON’Ts:

·Do NOT go over your qualifications unless you have a highly specialized degree or experience in the niche. A degree in chemistry shouldn’t be mentioned in a knitting article, but it should be in an article about chemistry experiments!

·Do NOT tell the reader more about YOU. Tell the reader about your site or affiliate link and why they should visit it!

Resource Box DOs:

·DO make your resource box have a clear call to action, such as “Click here for a FREE report on the top 10 ways to get rid of acne without a prescription!”

·DO make your resource box interesting. A boring resource box will make people leave without clicking.

Always test different resource box techniques in order to determine which works best and then implement it for widespread use.

Keep in mind that a resource box that works for one niche may not work for another niche, which is why it is important to test out different variations of your resource box.

Once you have identified resource boxes that convert maintain a swipe file so you will always have a handy resource box cheat sheet.

In some cases you may be better off hiding your resource box or camouflaging it within your article body. Remember, the main objective of your article is to make the readers click on the link in your resource box so they can sign up to become a subscriber on your list or buy a product you are recommending.

Try making the last paragraph of your article your resource box using transitional words or phrases. This technique, which I have called "Use Your Illusion", is extremely effective when implemented properly at generating a high click-thru rate for your resource boxes.
