The new kid in town

I stumbled across the Warrior forum and thought to myself "self, this looks like a great place to get help with Internet marketing!". So I joined, donated a small amount to help Mike, and started looking around.
I am definitely the new kid here. I have those "new kid" fears about being laughed at and mocked because of my ignorance. I'm sure those fears are ungrounded, but have you ever been the new kid at school, arriving right smack dab in the middle of the school year? Do you remember how that feels? I do! It creates issues, I tell ya.
I started studying Internet marketing a little over a month ago. It looks great to me. I'm a professional freelance writer so the article marketing part should be easy, plus the spelling, grammar, and punctuation on my ad copy will be correct. I tried doing some affiliate marketing right off the bat and didn't get one sale, so I went back to the drawing board. I know some good money can be made with Internet marketing so I'm not discouraged. I just jumped the gun, is all. I need to learn more.
Seriously, though, I am feeling really overwhelmed with all of the information out there about Internet marketing. I'm getting so that I don't know where to start, which information is the best to use, or what advice to follow. I'm in danger of never starting again because I'm frozen in place by over-information!
My writing business takes a lot of my time. It's my main source of income (for now). So studying Internet marketing (I'm talking about affiliate marketing...so far) is done when I can squeeze in the time.
I'm hoping like heck that this forum can help me sort some things out so I can finally get started again. Heck, right now I can't even figure out how to start a new thread and I don't even know what a WSO is!
New kid. Please don't steal my lunch money.
