Martial Arts in Caterham - promoting online

Posted 07-03-2009 at 07:27 AM by Vassago

The White Tiger Martial Arts or Shiro Tora Combat Academy is by it's nature an offline business. It cannot "trade" online, people have to go to the classes.

Of course they have a website:
http://shirotoratiger.blogspot.com/

these days everyone needs one, and their offline ad carries the website address.
Students visit the website, which is in the style of a blog, to recieve updated information on clubs activities and events.

Their offline advertising involves, posters, leaflets and ads in phone book and local papers.

Yet how many of those in their target demographic will visit the website or email for more information rather than call the phone number or just drop in?

What about all those people who will search online, maybe through Google, for what they are looking for:

Martial Arts in Caterham is the obvious one,
but so is Martial Arts in Croydon, Martial Arts in Surrey and Martial Arts in South London.

Shiro Tora is more specific, as is White Tiger Martial Arts. But then people would need to be looking for those specifically.

So how does a small offline Martial Arts business in a suburb of a suburb of London get online promotion and connect with their demographic?

At my advice they have been using several online methods:

An RSS feed:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/mnmA

Blog Top List:
http://www.blogtoplist.com/vote.php?u=93186

Blog top sites:
http://www.blogtopsites.com/sitedetails_18808.html

And ad at a specific Martial Arts directory:

A listing at Sheriff ratings:

At Viva Street:
http://courses-lessons.vivastreet.co...%40yahoo.co.uk

submitting articles to Zimbio:

So it looks like it will continue to be necessary for the offline business to promote online - but the tools are there to help this happen.

We'll keep readers updated with this club's progress.
