Posted 12-15-2009 at 06:18 PM by wrcato2
Advertising, when handled strategically, can be used to promote your content and products or services. Below is a short explanation of different forms of advertising.
Tip #1 Pay Per Click Advertising
PPC advertising is often the tool of choice because you control the advertising budget on a daily basis and have the tools to test and track your advertising efforts. Once you’ve honed your PPC ads the return on investment can be phenomenal in terms of traffic and purchases. Be sure to read the search engines rules carefully.
Google had changed some of there criteria and some find that they get slapped every now and then.
PPC advertising can be risky business. If you don’t know what you are doing you could lose a lot of money fast. I have heard a lot of horror stories, I won’t tell any here though. If you plan on going this route I would suggest that you have at least $500.00 to invest and be sure to read everything before committing.
Tip #2 Solo Ad Copy
I love solo ad’s, as the name implies these ads are sent by themselves to a set number of people. Some ezines and newsletters will run solo’s to their subscriber list. The cost of these ads will vary depending on the number of subscribers, the target market, how many times the list is mailed to each day, week or month.
Solo ads are a great way to get your message out quickly to a specific targeted group of people. For example, you can find newsletter or ezines that cater to everything from sewing to microbiology and everything in between. The more targeted your ad group is, the better your results will be.
I can get a solo ad from “Profits Yesterday” for less than $50.00 with a 500 reader guarantee. If they don’t click to my website they don’t count. Anywhere else it would take 50,000 regular solo ads to come close to getting 500 unique potential customers to my sales page.
If you ever wanted to try a solo ad try this one first.
Tip #3 manual traffic exchanges & Safelists is a form of networking for affiliates and site owners. With traffic exchanges you put your website up then you surf there exchange looking at other websites for determined amount of seconds. You receive points and the more points you receive the more people look at your site. This is kind of like trading business cards. But instead of cards you are exchanging websites. For a more complete TE course I have written a complete guide to traffic exchange strategies. It’s called “Traffic Exchange Affiliate Marketing”
Safelist are pretty much the same as traffic exchanges. The difference is with safelists you use email to drive people to your site. Here is how safelists work. You agree to receive and read other peoples emails in exchange they do the same. You click a claim point’s link in the body of the email some where, generally toward the bottom in the body of the email.
Once you click the claim point’s link you are directed to the advertised website. There is a timer at the top of the site that will let you know when you have received your points and then you can leave the site.
Traffic exchanges and safelist’s are free to use. But it is time consuming. If you are on a budget then these two forms of advertising may be a good gig for you.
I have always said that there are two ways to pay for advertising. 1. is to pay cash for it. And 2. is to pay through sweat equity.
Tip #4 Classified Ads or “Tiny little ads” as the phrase was coined by marketer Don Dupree, are small ads you find in newspapers, ad sheets, Craigslist and Ebay. All thou Ebay classifieds are design much like a regular auction. It is still considered a classified ad, but it much more like ad copy instead. The classified ad has been the most popular form of advertising since newspapers. And now with the internet there popularity isn’t going anywhere soon.
Tip #5 Banner ads make the web go round andare a popular form of advertising.
They are intended to attract traffic to a website. You will see banners on many types of sites. Banner ads can come in a number of different sizes and shapes. From long rectangular or square to round and decorated. On some sites the bigger the banner the more they cost. Banners aren’t as popular as they once were. The reason for this is called banner blindness. People are so use to seeing banners on a site that they just don’t see them as much anymore.
You’ll find a host of banners on banner sites like ‘Banners go mlm dot com” and on traffic exchanges and safelist.
I have found the best banner to create is a black (lettering) and white (background), kind of like a news paper headline. (My opinion) I think that this type of banner gets more clicks because it’s less obtrusive nature. People with banner blindness are more likely to see this one.
For maximum results, create a traffic and SEO strategy. Outline your plan and your goals and then take the necessary action. Take advantage of these ten Traffic and search engine tips to boost your sites traffic.
Tip #6 Bulk traffic is another way of getting people to see your website and help your natural search rankings. Don’t get your hopes up on any sales from this kind of traffic. The intent here is to just get…well, traffic. Any sales or sign-ups are gravy.bulk
Tip #7 Article marketing this my numero uno, favorite ways to drive traffic to my site. With article marketing you don’t need to be a writer. You just need to be able to write 400 to 800 words articles about your niche. Then submit your articles to article directories for inclusion. The hardest part of this aside from writing the article itself and headline is to write your author/bio signature box.
More about the Box
Your resource box needs to be as compelling as your article headline. If it isn’t then you have wasted your time on writing the article in the first place. Here’s why:
A successful resource box will contain your name, your website address and information about you that shows the reader that you are an expert in your niche. It will also have a call to action. This call to action is what will make your reader go to your website to find out more information. The important thing to remember is to not give away all of your information in your article. Instead, write enough to fulfill the article requirements and let your resource box do the rest.
