Is becoming an authority in your niche about the amount of posts you have or the amount of links you have?

Well both but there is more too.

If you're looking to become a real authority, one that Google loves, then you also need to link out to other authoritative and news worthy sites. Not just one or two but you need to get a balance between these links and your affiliate links, obviously I don't need to tell you which links Google are looking for.
