Google does rank its page geographically for keywords and could vary in positions in different countries however it depends upon the keyword and niche if its geographically important.
Regarding the rankings a common hop in 2-3 position is natural over period of time , nevertheless the site does say within the first page.

High competition keywords with a long tail can surely be ranked in top 10 , sending you details.

Hi @Stormchaser, its all up to the niche on which you need your site to be design on.
I can pick a keyword with certain number of minimum searches like 2000 monthly if there are keywords being searched for that niche in such volumes.

Hi @zaeleau, keyword is picked by you from the keyword report provided based on the niche/topic.
Yeh , each keyword is targeted "exact" with minimum number of searches asked by the client typically 1500-2000.

I cross checked the ranking of your demo sites. The first site wasn't on the first page for the same keyword, but second one was. Is the ranking area specific? I'm in India.
