The first page competition for each of the keywords of your example site seems pretty steep. Most of the top 10 Google results have PR greater than 2, are aged >2 years, and many have thousands of backlinks. Yet, you believe this keywords will be easy to rank? Can you please explain?

Hi

You are looking at the wrong factors. PR (less than 6) and age are minor ranking factors. What is relevant with backlinks is not the total number but the number of quality backlinks with the keyword in the anchor text. Backlinks are easy to get - spend some time with with Scrapebox and Xrumer and you can have tens of thousands of backlinks too.

The main ranking factors are stated in the description, namely..

1) Relevant content.
2) Excellent on-page SEO (see the factors in the description).
3) Low competition for the off-page factors which matter i.e.

a) Low inanchor matches.
b) Low intitle matches.
c) Low indescription matches.

The most important factor is 3a) which should be the first one you look at. How many of the top 10 in Google for a certain keyword also rank in the top ten for an inanchor: search. All of these factors will give you an indication of how well optimised these sites are for your chosen keyword and whether it might be possible to beat them with highly optimised content and a lot of good quality backlinks where a high % have the keyword in the anchor text.

PR, age and the total number of backlinks are not your first concern.

If you are new to SEO then I thoroughly recommend you get yourself a copy of Keyword Anchor for offpage indicators and then the Clickbump SEO plugin for onpage SEO and forget about Market Samurai and other software which encourage "paralysis by analysis". Just concentrate on the factors which matter.

Hi Dan

I don't do backlinking but there are some good folks over on the "Warrior For Hire" section who provide that service and they do get good reviews.

It's not possible in IM to say how much you can earn because there are too many variable at play. All I can say is that the more quality backlinks (and original content if you are able to add some) that you can get then the higher you will rank and the more traffic you will get and the more you will earn.
