Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I thought I set it up so I would get emails every time someone left posted to the thread.

Anyway to answer your questions it really depends on the keyword and the competition of that keyword.

I do several test before selecting a keyword to make sure the chances of that keyword getting on page 1 and staying on page one is very likely based on the information that I collect.

Of course while Google is trying to figure out a good placement for your site it will probably dance around a bit. I have built over 70 sites using these techniques and normally once a site lands on page one after the dance it stays their. I have sites that have been on page one for months.

Things that can change and affect rankings are:

1. Google changes something with their algorithm.
2. Google Data Centers update – or are not updated recently.
3. A competitor gains links… or loses links.
4. New competition enters the space.
5. Previous competition leaves the space.
6. YOU gain or lose links.
7. A competitor changes something on THEIR site.
8. You change something on YOUR site.

About the ranking and if you will have to continue with SEO here are some of the reason a site might fall or improve in rankings.

Things that can change and affect rankings are:
