Needing opinions

Hello there, dear warriors!

I often see people posting their website here and asking for feedback, and I felt it's time for me to do the same.

I will tell you some background details first:

I have been working on a subscription based online classroom for couple of years now with my friend. Our classroom is teaching meditation and other self help techniques. We are not the normal everyday business type, but this is what we enjoy doing and the self-help industry is there.

We finally finished the project and went live with it, but we are experiencing some doubts regarding our advertising / landing page structure. When we first started our business, we offered different subscription methods: Monthly, Annual and Yearly but we quickly came to the conclusion that we need a free trial to get people interested and to try out our product.

We regularly post updates on Facebook and that side is doing really well. However, despite of getting likes and shares on Facebook, we still have not gotten any subscribers to try out the free trial on our website.

We did couple of experiments that you can see below, but the result were still the same. It seems people enjoy the content we post to Facebook, but they don't have any desire to dive further into our product, even if it doesn't cost them anything to try. I don't know if there is something wrong with our pages, or are we just have not hit the right target market yet?

Now that you know where we are, I would love to hear some of your opinions about our landing pages:

The main landing page:
School of Soul online classroom

Landing page experiment 1[EDIT: This has been modified to look more like landing page experiment 2]:
Feeling energy with your palm chakras School of Soul online classroom

Landing page experiment 2:
The Spiritual Connection School of Soul online classroom

Do you think the landing pages are too long?

For someone who would regularly enjoy the self-help content, do we make our message about the product clear enough?

I know we are making some typical newbie mistakes here and I'm willing to hear honest opinions about what you think

Cheers, any help is appreciated!

This is good enough: http://www.classroom.schoolofsoul.net/, only that perhaps they're seeing those videos at top (the ones content locked) and they're like, "now what do I do?" and exit, they're not scrolling to the very bottom to see free trial. Plus you're asking them to purchase a course right there.

So put free trial at top... so they optin right away and get the content. You can't just put 1 free video, then say: Purchase course to see next one that's just doesn't work.

So instead of saying that, say: Test drive our courses for 7 days.

I think that's all you have to do. So they watch 1st video for free, like it, click 2nd and optin to get the free trial, that's all. It's also very good that they're not billed after trial or have to enter cc info cuz that will scare some off too, since you only have just 1 free video as "demo".

And that's the best splash page, not the other two because they can get something to see content for free right away...

Ok before I comment anything, I need you to understand that pre-qualifying your prospects with your ad copy is essential, and if done wrong it could do a lot of damage on your sales funnel.

Let's just say your ad copy is doing Fine, and it somewhat related to your Landing page. (I also assume your targeting is fine, as I don't have any information regarding this. I believe targeting your prospects is quite easy in this kind of niche, so hopefully you got that right)

1. Main landing page:
School of Soul online classroom
  • There is absolutely nothing making me click this first video. The way the page is structured is wrong. You need at least some kind of a headline, and if the main thing is going to be a video you need to autoplay it for your visitors. Otherwise they get confused
  • The first place I saw the 7 day free trial option is at the bottom of the page. Again - wrong. This is the first thin you want your visitors to see - that joining is risk-free, and they can explore your content before signing up.
  • The 4 circles that give additional information when read from left to right start with Step 4, then step 1. This is again - confusing.
  • Let me point again that having a headline is way more essential than you probably understand. Sometimes you will convert people who will only read your headline.
  • The first PURCHASE button I saw was again ... in the bottom of the page. You want to have this button all over this landing page. Seriously the way I do is probably include it minimum 3 times, one of them being above the fold.
  • Complete lack of any CTA elements on the page. (Call To Action)
  • The "lesson 2", "lesson 3" is another confusing part of the site that doesn't have a clear purpose.
The list for this one goes on and on... You've got most of the stuff wrong here, and please don't take this personally I'm trying to help.

2. Landing page experiment 1:
Feeling energy with your palm chakras School of Soul online classroom
  • Once again there is no headline that makes me take any action whatsoever. No CTA elements either.
  • The login panel presented here is absolutely useless, because the goal for this page is to generate fresh leads, not get old people to login to their accounts.
  • The sentence in the video that says "This content is for School of souls...blabla" actually mentions the 7-day free trial. BUT again this is done the wrong way. The sentence alone is way too long, and believe it or not, the majority of people won't even reach the part where it says that it's free to join. What you're basically doing here is telling them they need to register, but you don't give any reason whatsoever to make people join your program.

3. Landing page experiment 2:
The Spiritual Connection School of Soul online classroom

Okay, from the 3 pages you have, this one is definitely the only one that has some of the stuff right, yet the layout of the page is not intuitive at all. It's not really good, but it's the best from the 3.
Bare in mind that even though Internet is widely used, websites are a challenge to many people. Why? Simply because they are all different. Every new site is a new experience, and what you want to provide is an easy interface.

Again, the video is not autoplaying, and again, I'm don't see anything that makes me click anything on your page.

===========

When I say that you don;t give any reason to make people sign up, I realize that you have plenty of content that makes people sign up. Yet, you don't give people a reason to read this additional content at all.

Long landing pages usually convert well with target audience of people above 30, as these people are not that lazy to read. Therefore, I suggest you to keep the longer copy of your landingpage.

Don't take any of my words personally, I'm simply trying to layout what you guys done wrong.

P.S. The niche is unbelievably hot, and I know as I'm also interested in spiritual growth. Yet, I haven't seen a single website to be well optimized for sales. If you get it right, you can definitely make a killing

Good luck!

Lets start with I am assuming one of your traffic sources FaceBook. There is a difference between "Teaching" and "Sharing" right now you are "Teaching". You have 4,162 likes and something like 11 comments. Are you feeling me here? Produce some content that "Interacts" with your audience, and not just teaching them.

A piece I use all the time... well not all the time but I use every other month or so regardless of the audience. "If Music is the expression of life, what song describes your life?" The text on a nice image of blue sky and some clouds in your case would work great.

To get your audience involved on FaceBook will translate to getting involved elsewhere.

Your landing pages.... your FaceBook page should have a landing page to itself. And stop with all the beating around the bush here. Right across the top "Start Now, Free 7 Day Trial" your opt-in box to get started. then you can put in the program details if you like, and follow that up with another opt-in box. There should be no shame in the game here. ASK and you shall receive.

I will bet in your local face to face gatherings you have no issue passing the basket.. there is no difference here.

To get spiritual for a moment.. Your money issues are getting in the way of your prosperity. You are worthy to follow the path you are on. Stop with the sneaky sales crap and just get what is yours!

First and foremost I want to thank all of you for your replies. There is no fear of us getting offended in any way, as we love to learn and improve; even in the marketing aspect. We carefully analyzed all the critics we got and we will put the information into good use.

We can clearly see where we have gone wrong, and it's clear for us that we designed our pages from the "what looks nice" aspect more than "what works well" with sales aspect. Finding the middle ground of what fits for us and what will work for us is our next priority target. I will keep this thread updated in case you want to follow our work.

Again, thank you for your time!

I checked out some of her new agey friends and it was like they all did the same thing.

So the amount of shares you get may be kind of an illusion.

Kind of like ... anyone can share one of those generic inspirational quotes and folks dig that on Facebook and will share it and what not. But they really don't care about the site that shared it.

Hell ... I could start a FB page sharing bikini photos and get a ton of shares going on. But doesn't necessarily mean it would lead to money.

You do need to get some discussion, but it has to be a discussion with direction.

I can ask folks what their favorite color is and folks will respond.

But does that actually lead them to buy anything?

No.

It's kind of cliche, but, share a cute cat meme. Watch how many shares it gets. Won't lead to a nickel for ya.

I'd say you are in need of a marketing plan. Not just relying on Facebook. Lotsa folks go out of business that way. I always cringe when someone seems to look at Facebook as being the "source" of all possibility.

It's great for what it's great for.

But you need to have a customer acquisition strategy.

My 2 cents.
Thanks for the tips!

We have been trying to tackle the quote issue by ensuring we only share quotes made by us, with our website and name on them. The whole quote thing is actually a quick interactive (meaningless?) fun that people can do, but like you said, it does not really mean there is any movement towards the actual website. Good point.
