Does my "About Author" section ruin my page?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi,

So I have this template for a landing page where there is a section for the Author. This is my sales page. Learn How to Hack | Ethical Hacking eBook | Best Hacking Book

Being a topic on Hacking, I would like to keep my name away from it. Which is why I had written an About the author section of the type that is shown in the website.

Do you think that could ruin the trustability, conversion or anything else?

Regards,
John

You have a how-to book on hacking and you are concerned about "trustability"?

Ha-ha.

Check out Marcia Yudkin's No-Hype Marketing Academy for courses on copywriting, publicity, infomarketing, marketing plans, naming, and branding - not to mention the popular "Marketing for Introverts" course.

Well, that's where the problem is :p I don't want to remove the trust factor but at the same time don't want to take out the crux of it being a Hacking Book

Hacking tools and programs for fun and which were NOT put to misuse

If you are going to teach people to violate the space of others (hacking) then OWN it. You seem to be trying to sell the idea of an "honest, trustworthy, hard working...hacker". Doesn't even ring a little bit true.

Your "about me" page comes across as almost "corporate" ..and is at odds with the red highlighted text meant to sound "bad a@@" in your sales copy.

I don't understand linking to "my blog" while also saying "it's not my blog - others write it".

To each his own but if you are going to teach hacking - then present yourself as a hacker and don't try to wear a white hat. As I said above - own it.

I guess you are right. In which case would you suggest a dark theme tather than this bright one? Do you think it makes me less acceptable by customers for that reason?

I like this idea. This code trick. It looks great, but the design of the main page is does not match. Black looks cool. There are these texts in too big fonts that I do not like. They are too loud. Could you make them more subtle? The fill-out forms are almost invisible. Why could not you stick to this original black and green theme?

Thanks for your opinion.Yes, I've been trying to convert it to black and green but the default theme that I ordered comes in this color. And since I'm not a designer, it hard for me to work out the colours that go well.

Hi! I have taken your suggestion quite seriously and redid the theme. What do you think about it now? Took about 6 hours.

I think the site's awesome. I also think that since you have been putting people's testimonial all over the place, you should put something about yourself. You don't need to put in your real name I guess. A pseudo name would do - along with what you do and how long you've been in the industry.

A interesting well thought out website. I agree about it being a bit of an oxy-moron when you want to be a trusted hacker, since hacking is by its very nature an endeavour where you would struggle to trust the hacker.

Well, that I suppose is something I'll have to deal with. And perhaps, it adds to the whole 'hacking aura'
