3%? Really? (High Conversion Rates)

By a show of hands, who here has seen very high conversion rates and can provide examples? I think this would serve as motivation (and evidence) for fellow marketers.

I know I have in certain instances.

I recently managed to get 55% conversion rate on a squeeze page from Facebook traffic. I used to convert that same page at 15%, but through meticulous testing I brought it all the way up to 55%!

Conversion depends on several factors and it is hard to replicate your conversion based on another scenario.

We've achieved 45% - 55% on a free report in the biz op niche. I've also achieved 19% on a CPA page. However, apart from general rules (valuable bribe, direct benefit, targeting, shorter is better) there is no one size fits all formula.

It depends on how you look at the numbers. on e-commerce type sites, I tend to target 3 different levels of the buying cycle, but in the end I generally get a 3% overall conversion. However if you look at the performance of the "buyer" keywords that percentage goes up into the double digits.

So why bother with the other 2 categories you ask? because 60% ( +/- ) of my buyer keyword hits are repeat visitors.

You can have the same squeeze page but you can increase your conversion rates when you market in different places.

You can get a 30% opt in rate from Google ads.
You can get a 1% from the crappy pay per click search engines (not referring to Google,Yahoo, and Bing)

It all depends where you market and how target the traffic is.

Very hard to give proof, but making sure the Google PPC ad wording matches exactly the landing page it goes to moved conversions from 2% to 12%

It does mean having a lot of landing pages, but the rewards are worth it.
