Is my Opt-In too General?
Share on:

Right now, I'm running this: http://www.sharpsyndicate.com/opt/

I'm in the sports gambling niche. And there's a couple things I wanted to do here.

1.) I didn't want to giveaway its sports gambling until people were into the lead of my sales page
2.) I wanted to use a term like "sports investing" to create curiosity/interest.

I could do a "Free Report on NBA Betting Tips" but I wasn't sure if that would be too redundant.

What do you think?

I think it depends on your target market.

Are you promoting this offer to gamblers or to 'make money fast' people?

I think if you're marketing to gamblers, they may have an idea that gambling = sports investing.

But if you're marketing to make money fast people, this message will appear very intriguing.

the question I have is why the doupe? with demographics like this Industry Demographics - Fantasy Sports Trade Association there really is NO reason not to be straight forward and honest unless you are gaming some traffic source into allowing your advert.

I personally would think that with a term like "Sports Investing" you had better have one heck of a disclaimer notice in place.

I think you have a good angle with "sports investing" but you don't sell it enough. Actually you don't sell it at all.

This is where I'm stuck. I was originally writing this to non-gambling sports fans. But I'm buying bing traffic and I'm targeting gambling keywords. I might make a new opt and sales page focused for existing gamblers since this might be a lot easier to convert.

Targeting gambling keywords doesn't mean they are buyers of gambling.

It can make the difference of night and day.

Try reading this: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...yFsSwLNs3rOB7A <-- a PDF

read over page 3 a few times.. and then start looking at the details and the locations specifically pointed out in the report. There are plenty of other reports like this that you can do some searching for and get a really good idea of who and what and where you need to be in order to connect with these people.

Keywords for buyers of gambling
is still a long way off a list of proven buyers.

This next comment will lose most on this forum.

Rent a list of those that have gambled.

Here's 3 of them.

They have traveled to casinos or have played online.

The travelers list is from travel agents

The online gamblers are from the owners of gambling websites.

All proven buyers who will buy again.

makes one think what type of response EDDM would have... on average 60% of the American population has gambled.

Still a crapshot, to use a gambling term.

You have no evidence when they last gambled,
whereas, those lists give out that information.

Direct response mailers have known through
testing, those that have bought most recently are more likely
to buy than those further out from purchase date.

That's why they are called hot lists and get premium prices.
