Buy placement and payment steps

Ok ... first post here.

Little things about me: i am a web developer for almost 10 years. I usualy had projects that had to do with either rebranding or front end development of db web apps. Part time web apps pentesting and arduino projects. Never had the chance to seriously mess with internet marketing until now which i believe the time is quite interesting, it is going to become even more interesting and the fields that someone can dive in are many and becoming even more.

Thought of starting from basics. Made a ebook product and made my sales page in wordpress. Made 4 accounts: click 2 sell, product pay, JVzoo and e-junkie. Hooked each account with a sales page seperately. I also made one using the woo-commerce plugin and linked it with paypal. Total 5 sales pages but with different payment gates, which would serve me also well with A/B testing later. (also added google analytics and goals for each page).

i noticed in the woocommerce product page that the add to cart was on the top of the page after a small description and then followed the sales description info where in the other pages i could put the buy button basicly anywhere so i chose to place it exactly after my final punch lines.

If i had to use the woocomerce page i would have to scroll back up to add it to cart then go to the cart, go to checkout, pay and go to the thank you page.
If i used the other account pages i would just click the button below, pay and then to thank you page.

So the questions that came to me where these:

1. would it matter (conversion wise) if after reading all the info and the sales prep didnt have a button conveniently right there and had to scroll back up in order to place the order? (following 1 checkout step more in woocomerce case than the other pay gates)

2. Would the buy now placement really matter if someone was already sold by the info on the sales page ? is there a chance that a visitor might not place the order only because he didnt have the buy button conveniently right there ?

One reason i made all these accounts was exactly this so i can do my A/B but also to check out the different pay sites as i didnt have any previous experience on this process from the vendor perspective.

But i am curious what you guys also think.

PS: sorry for the long post. Though i start with a bang.

1.) Yes, it would definitely matter.

How much it matters, however, can't be determined without testing (test, test, test!).

My guess is having the button several times throughout the page is effective for not only putting the call to action in front of the reader periodically, but it also serves to subconsciously remind the prospect that he/she needs to buy....and right now!

Having to scroll back up and place the order will not matter IF the person really wants what you're offering.

They WILL scroll up and buy. As long as the offer itself is good and the copy truly conveys the benefits of your wares in a way that resonates with the prospect - they'll buy.

It's so much easier to scroll upward than it is to click off your site, search for your competitors, research their offerings, and make the final purchase on another website.

Test buy button position and frequency, and see which configuration yields the highest ROI.

2.) See #1 for the answer!

Thank you AyiamDigital for your reply.

I will follow your suggestions plus i will use different analytics code for each of the button placements to see which/if makes the difference.

Test "Add to cart" as will. "Buy now" creates some friction. I mean..Amazon uses "Add to cart"...
