Not converting

Hi guy,

Any idea on how I can improve the conversion rate on my site Open on Sunday - Online Directory for businesses .

We specialise on businesses in the UK that operate on a Sunday. All of the listings are free but have affiliates attached to them. Nobody seems to buy through the affiliate, even though it is 30% cheaper to buy the product online.

Regards,

Calvin

You already asked in http://www.warriorforum.com/conversi...e-problem.html

Have you done anything about addressing the "We don't feel right about buying tires online" issue? You need to get something in there to change their minds about this issue or they'll keep right on using your site for information and not buying.

Instant gratification is what people want, on the front page tell them exactly what the benefits of the site are, don't make them, work to find it. S end them to a page on the referral site (e.g. hairdressers) that gives them what they want immediately.

List services below the what we do on the front page. Add a reason to subscribe to our mailing list: Subscribe to get [insert benefit] save/convenience etc.

On your free trial button - say - Benefits for business of something like that OR add something on the free trial page that tells them why they should take up the free trial. Lead them to what they want and tell them how to get it. This is how to walk people from interest to action, and satisfy them a little bit (or a lot) every step of the way. I am a conversion specialist (and content marketer) - here's a good rule of thumb for creating a compelling call to action...

When creating a call to action:

◆ Don't give your visitors any excuse to hesitate
◆ While urgency is important, tell the truth and make sure you are delivering what you promise at every step, this also means sending them to a page where they get the answer to what your text/button/link promised
◆ Give them enough information in your call to action to act
◆ Ask them to act NOW
◆ Be descriptive and give and explain a benefit, preferably with a "without having to..."
◆ Be concise and to the point

Happy to give you a bigger run down...lots you can do to improve conversion and retention rates on site. :-)
