Page load. A 1080p HD background image can be huge and noticeably increase load time of your site. It only takes a second to plug an image into tinypng.com.

As other have mentioned, website speed is very important and it can really reduce page load times.

Also for mobile users using 3g, 4g etc it can really help reduce the bandwidth needed
