Your content sucks because...
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

It's hard enough to build up your following on social media and through your email database but once you've drawn people in you obviously need to make sure you're giving them the content that they signed up for. You're not necessarily going to hit the mark every single time but if you've got the following, but not the engagement, there could be a couple of things you're doing wrong with your posts:

You dont use images.
People prefer visuals a quick glance at an appealing image will have so much more impact than a large block of text. Not everyone likes to read as it's much harder to get your message across so accompanying your post with a relevant image will make sure you get the most engagement.

No one can see you.
If you're publishing online content without keywords and without sharing on social media, nobody will know you're there. Each blog or piece of marketing you produce needs to be accompanied with a sharing strategy to get the most impact, the job isn't over once you've produced the piece.

There's no Call to Action.
So often people miss telling people what they want them to do. If you're looking after the content marketing for your own business the chances are you're making an assumption that people will know that they should sign up or make a purchase because that's what's in your head. People need to have those things spelled out to them. Never assume that they know!

If you have a good following but low engagement, there could be a few reasons why, don't just assume it's normal, it's not!

Thanks! With regard to images, do you suggest using stock photos? What kind of images are most effective in encouraging subscriber engagement?

Also when your content is not relevant to what people are asking for, then also your content sucks. The one point that struck me in your answer was that boring content without any images is a big no. Unless ones content is made engaging with the help of infographics, images, videos people are just not going to pay attention to it.
