Hey Guys, A couple of days ago I posted on here that after writing copy for myself for a long time I was thinking of breaking into writing for others and was not really sure how to get clients Well today I may have TOO Many clients ![]() Here's what I did ... 1 - I sent a message on Twitter to 12 marketing friends I have met over the last year (Either on Twitter or in person at Events) asking for their email. So far I have heard back from 5 who sent me their 2 - I sent an email to those 5 telling them that I was getting into Freelance copy writing and would love to work with them (These are all people who KNOW the value of copy and can afford to pay for good copy) RESULTS - 4 out of 5 have expressed an interest in talking with me about doing copy for them The 5th hasn't responded ... yet! Here's 2 examples of Responses: ============== I am ALWAYS open to any discussion with you, Jack! I've great respect for you. You may not know but I've been writing kick ass copy since before going on line! So I definitely appreciate it when I see it. And I can't do everything myself. Let's talk soon! ============== ============================= Got it. Now trying to figure out which project to give you ;-) ============================= Here's why it worked ... 1 - We already had a relationship 2 - I asked Moral of the Story Best way to get copywriting clients is to make friends and ask them if they need copy ![]() Jack Bastide |

Congrats. Proof that good selling skillz are always in demand. Reminds me of Robert Ringer's rules of success (at least I think it was his) - ask and ask again... and again and again. And of course, some good old solid relationships don't hurt either. |

Hey, Why not Jack? You don't ask, you don't get. From someone who has been taught since childhood to downplay my skills, and be humble I can appreciate where you are coming from. Pragmatically speaking, if you want to get anywhere you must toot your own horn, and ask for what you want. If ever you feel unsettled by the task, reflect back to this proverb: Do what you say, and say what you feel, because those who matter don't care, and those who care don't matter. Good on ya Jack. ~ Doug Hughes |
