Default Tracking A Salesletter?

I know there is split testing etc happening on most saesletters but what about other sorts of tracking.

An example of what I would like to track is..

How far down people scroll
How long they spend gazing at the top of the page.

And so on.. Basically all to do with how long a visitor is doing a particular thing on a salespage.

Is it even possible?

You may be looking for a service like Crazy Egg – visualize your visitors

This will give you 'heat maps' so you can see your visitors
action on your site. There are other similar services to this
as well.

It seems that only works based on URL hovering, if the user hovers their mouse over hypelinked text or images. That's as far as I could tell from checking it out.

Hey Mark,

There is software that does some of that. You can look at Affiliate Prophet and Split Test Accelerator.

Both do time on page. Both do Tugachi / Multi-variate testing too.

AP can do a click-off heat map showing where people are clicking off your page. It does the time on page with AIDA and is configurable. You'll need to get the OTO for the Click-off heat map feature.

I use AP for my sales pages, really helps to dial them in quickly.

I haven't tried Split Test Accelerator yet, but there is a FREE version if you want to try it out. Free Split Testing Software | Jim Stone, Ph.D. | Taguchi Testing Software

I think it includes all the modules except Multi-variate, not a bad deal for FREE.

If you like it you can always purchase the Multi-Variate module.

Hope this helps out,

Thanks,

Derek

You need Clicktale.com

It records your visitors, so you can watch
back in real time. That way you can see
EXACTLY what they do.

It's pretty powerful.

Also, it will collate the data into heatmaps
too, so if there's a chokepoint, or something
that really grabs the reader, you can see it.

I suggest this for a lot of my clients, and
they're usually blown away by what it shows
them.

Hope that helps

Second clicktale. I have no idea how they do that voodoo, but it is crazy awesome.
