This is almost too easy... For a lot of you experienced guys this isn't going to be anything new or groundbreaking.
But if you're ever in a bind it does work. I don't claim to have invented this, finding work on CL is nothing new, but here's a way to make it easier... Again, nothing new or groundbreaking, but there's plenty of work out there... The trick is pre-qualifying the clients you want to work for and then convincing them to hire you.. With this set up you've got instant access to jobs being posted 24/7... So if you're a good copywriter you should be able to land as much work as you need. I want to reiterate the pre-qualifying... There are a lot of bargain hunters out there so look for the serious companies that value good copy. Hope that helps someone out. -Scott P.S. Don't go too crazy with this, I'm sure you can get your IP blocked for sending out too many messages. I've sent probably 10-15 in a day before with no problems, but there's no implied warranty here. Don't spam, selectively target the jobs you're interested in and write an email from scratch, you *should* be okay. |

Not a bad idea Scott. In fact, there was a post here about a
month ago with a craglist job and I was surprised I got an answer from the poster except they wanted me to work on spec. Of course I refused the offer. But if you are just getting your foot wet this is not a bad way to get some clients. You do have to do some sifting because those who are looking for "copywriters" obviously didn't read the copywriter/article writer stickie on this board. ![]() -Ray Edwards |

Hopefully, your clients are not put off by typos in their headlines, Scott...

That "typo" was based on 13 years of split testing and a secret NLP technique to put clients into trance like state that forces them into a rabid buying frenzy...
Oh wait... That was me forgetting to run spell check . My copywriting website is due for a complete copy/design make over when I find the time. Peace, -Scott |

Haha! Confessions. Confessions. I didn't realise it was a problem for you.
I was referring to the title of this thread - not your website! But hey, as an old paste up guy I used to work with used to say to the writers, "It's better to admit to typos than ignorance, stupidity or just a plain old lack of talent." ![]() Tom |

Heh... I didn't notice, even when you pointed it out.
"Ridiculously" is one of those weird words for me... I always misspell it but generally catch it with spell check... Note to self: Even if you have to write it out by hand 50 times learn the correct spelling of "ridiculously" today... This is why I have people proof work that I'm hired to write .Thanks, -Scott |

Hagrumpf...
First, google's reader was telling me that there was something wrong with the file (so no upload possible), and then I downloaded and installed NetNewsWire 2, imported the file, and all of the threads are empty. Not one post listed for "copywriter" I've dinked with the settings quite a bit and I keep getting either no posts or "can't parse OPLM file." I'd love to give this a go... |

What you have to do is highlight and copy the all text in the text box from the feed result instead of using their link save-as option. Paste the text into a new notepad file, click save, choose "all" and save the file as filename.opml Try uploading that file to Google reader, it should work now. | |

I thought this was a good idea and tried it out. It seems that it doesn't function as a subscription though...only a file. So you have to keep updating your search on crazed list and then create a file each time to read in google reader.
That's cool because it does gather all the ads into one place. But I'm wondering if I did something wrong--and if there's a way to get it to subscribe using the same search criteria. |

Same problem here regarding OPML files and google. Tried the save as and the pasting into notepad - no luck.
Any direction would be appreciated! Sam |

An idea to produce an RSS file out of that search would be to use Dapper dot net.
note to self: create one and share it here... |

Hmm... Its great to let people know about this, especially since not everyone knows. yes, it probably has been done for a while now, but it is still great of you to shove it out there for people.
I'm sure many people will appreciate your post.
